I watched Julian Jackson vs Terry Norris today. Norris' speed was blinding.
Terry was making Julian his *****, but we all know all J needs to do is give one good combination and it's lights out.

i see ESB is full of embittered srl fans. embittered & dissillusioned that he could not succeed against all styles, making every excuse in the book

first bragging how he never fought at 160 yet still beat Hagler. then in the next breath saying "he's too light at 154. it weakened him"

    the hypocrisy

yet another is "he overcame the yr layoff to beat Hagler"

yet with no layoff, couldnt do squat vs Norris

these same people have no clue on how to analyze a situation even when it comes to the sport they eat sleep & drink

it was the SPEED that did it. that's speed, spelled S_P-E-E-D

And definitley some of Norris` granite chin :) :) :) He showed a ton of grit against all time great Keith Mullings ;) And Norris showed a ton fo determination laying on his back against JJ :) Actually rather on his side !

They both looked like shells of themselves the nights of Pac and Norris. to say they were anything near their primes, is totally bogus ...

People give Leonard a pass because he got his ass beat. He was 34 without that much wear and tear, and fighting at a good weight. Norris would be live to beat a prime Leonard because he had more handspeed and great power.

Who`s ass was has has sevral soppage losses ??? I love how obtuse you are when it comes to recognizing Norris horrid chin ... There was a thread a ways back talking about champs with bad chins... Just an FYI, he was rated near the top. You do realize of course he made a career out of fighting blown up welters and fighters less than prime ????????

your silence speaks volumes. when u cant even answer a direct question and have to change the subject, it just makes my case all the stronger

and u still can't answer this question: how do Ray Leoanrd make Terry Norris stand still for him to hit? When Terry norris dont want to be hit, he ain't!

lookit the fight. Sugar try every trick he know to get in close, failing 95% of the time. even when he do get in, Terry just tie him up?

how does Sugar make Terry drop his hands so Sugar hit him? How he make him stand still for him?

this was his problem all thru out the night. he couldnt figure out the answer

never had he faced this level of talent, combined with speed & lightning reflexes

the question still stands: in a head to head and chin to chin matchup, who hit the deck twice, got in trouble in just about every round

and who WON every round, came thru unscathed, and smelling like roses?

I agree with that knowledgable poster. Leonard gets too much of a free pass on his loss to Terry. I never trusted the judgement of the ESB posters (novices) anyways.

Larry Holmes, who is much more knowledgable on these matters said openly "Terry Norris just had the style to beat Ray Leonard"

another knowldgable poster, I believe Duranimal left a quote from Sugar's trainer, Dundee commenting on leonard's progress in dealing with Bonds "you do know that you have a stiff in front of you"

as well as his other well known remark in the Hearns fight "you're blowing it"

this does not instill confidence that Sugar, who ducked both hagler & Pryor in their primes, is capable of handling a non stop moving target with blazingly fast, and too fast to stop, hands

not to mention the fact he was downed by diminuitive Kevin Howard, which makes me shudder to think what wouldve happened had it been Terry, instead of Howard.

so no matter the time or place, I cant see anyone making a case for a Leonard win over Norris, and is nothing more than wishful thinking

Terry Norris made more defenses than Leonard & Hearns combined

Leonard actually boxed well against a slow and drained 158 pound Duran who was age 38 at the time when both guys basically stunkout the city of Vegas to death in Dec. '89 on $45.00 PPV....

Norris looked great against Jules Jackson on network TV come '89 in the very first round... Come round 2, Jackson parks Norris like a showroom Gran Torino.... That KO loss haunted Norris in terms of his beard, etc....

Norris did KO Mugabi for the WBC title in '90 on network TV, but Mugabi was dead at 154 pounds by 1990... Mugabi was garbage after kayoing a sorry Rene Jacquot for the title in the summer of '89...

I thought 34 year old SRL at age 34 was gonna teach 23 year old Norris a lesson and get the late rd. TKO win.... I WAS WRONG! Leonard was shot by 1991....

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. But at the time Norris wasn't that well thought of and he was relatively obscure, not many of the public knew much about him. He'd been viciously knocked out in his biggest fight and people weren't convinced of the Mugabi win because the beast was thought to be past his best. It wasn't til after the Leonard, Curry, Brown, Blocker, Taylor wins that Norris got some respect as a champion. Many thought that he was just a stepping stone en route to a third Hearns fight, Michael Nunn or other more lucrative names. Also there was the feeling that you just don't bet against Ray Leonard and Norris was fighting his idol and wouldn't handle the bright lights that well.

Please tell me that your not trying to rate Norris in there with Hearns and Leonard ?? And it doesn`t make sense trying to talk with someone who thinks an older, semi-active Leonard was anywhere near prime. If you had half a clue, you would know that SRL coming out of retirement for Hagler, was past his prime !! Geez, how blind are you ??? I`m talking `81 ` Hearns Leonard. ok, you got it ?? Norris, beat an older way past his prime SRL !! Nowhere near his peak... Can you comprehend this ?/ Now, my question for you, that you ALWAYS duck. What about Terrible`s china chin ?? How high do you rank mullings or Brown amongst all time greats ?? PLEASE answer that, oh almost forgot, and the JJ debacle ?? Please don`t tell me you rate Nooris so highly due to his beating a 34 yr old, semi-active SRL ? Or a worn dheydrated Mugabi, or a less than in Brown ( who first KO`d his ass), or a jr. welter in Taylor, used up Blocker ????. Can you imagine what Hearsn what have done to your boy ???

You are the best !! I get it now... So, Norris WANTED to get hit by, Jackson, Brown, Mullings and Boudani ? Thats why he got stopped ? So he isn`t just chinny, just dumb ?

still trying to change the subject

    talking about comparisons

Leonard was decked by Howard, taken 9 by Kalule, 11 with Bonds, taken to school in the ring by Norris and has zero defenses to Norris' 12 def

    you're right, no comparison

and it showed head to head as my man came out smelling like roses while Leonard was predictably shown up by the faster, slicker youngster

he looked like this afterwards :!:
