If it was similar to Sky always having the large majority of top flight football with the rest scattered on one or two channels then I wouldn't mind. Sky with all the shows and a promoter or two with C5 etc is fine.

The major risk is weak cards, PPV becoming the norm, a tonne of adverts breaking up the flow of watching a live event etc The production quality and marketing however is on another level.

Some things people need to recognise is that Hearn doesn't have a monopaly. He just has the best TV deal and that has more to do with the poor work of other promoters than Hearn doin anything spectacular.

Price, Groves, DeGale, McDonnell all top level fighters that didn't sign with Hearn in the past 2 years. Saunders, Ogogo, Buglioni, Jumah didn't sign with him from the Ams. Joshua & Campbell are still unsigned and Selby & Evans did the WSB.

Regarding Bunce, he fails to acknowledge thats there is a very clear and obvious reason why Groves is leaving, which as a man who puts others down for not supporting british boxers, he should be disgusted by like everybody else.

An email i got this morning.

"I was phone at 3 yesterday told Groves is leaving. Due to late from Johnson plus not putting latest fight into escrow.

I heard Gavin wants out. Billy Joe not happy with lack of exposure."

Frankie has 7 fighters capable of headlining: Chisora, Groves, Smith, Saunders, Cleverley, Burns, Gavin.

    Is that right?

I love how people revise history. All matchroom did is bring back the soliman's belt tournament and rename it prizefighter and as for the cards they put on they are not paticularly great. Don't get me wrong I enjoy prize fighter but Hearn is a businessman looking after his own interests like all the rest.

I thought you worked in some form of economics, Richard?

It's when a third party holds money until the transacting parties have both delivered their contractually agreed conditions. So, for example, Groves doesn't receive the money until he's fought, but the money must be in the account before he will fight.

You often do this when buying a house. Your solicitor is your third party and they hold the funds "in escrow" until the papers have been signed.

Very simply put its giving the money to a third party to keep safe so if the fight goes ahead the third party pays the boxer but if the boxer pulls out the third party gives it back to the promoter.
