should Ward go to UK or Denmark to fight with the winner of Froch-Kessler rematch ?

Hate to sound disrespectful considering your proper approach in that post but having better opposition is not an excuse. Hatton could have easily stayed in England and fought safer opponents/mandatory defenses and still made good enough money while playing safe like Calzaghe did. Obviously he wanted to achieve greatness and had to take risks for it, one of those risks is making the move to America which he did. His move up in weight wasn't necessary either yet he still did it twice against two dangerous opponents IN America. Despite my dislike of Amir Khan, he's doing the same thing because he knows that's what he's supposed to do to achieve P4P status and global recognition. These guys could just stay in England and still be highly regarded by their people without the need to take serious risks. By the way, for Hopkins' fight style and reputation his PPVs aren't exactly terrible.

Why did Mayweather and Pacquiao consider him as an opponent then?, I'll answer that. Because he proved he's worth it by displaying his ability in America like all the rest did/do. That's how he became recognized as a legitimate opponent to headline PPVs with other established stars.

 

Of course they could of, but similar with Lewis the cash cows at the time were based in America so it made sense for them to build their names over there to get those fights.

The opposite of that is Haye and the Klitschko's, they are happy to stay in Europe because that is where the money is for them, after all most boxers will go where the Money is.

So back to the SMW division, I think its fair to say that Ward can make more money traveling to fight Kessler or Froch than he could with anyone at home at 168 or 175 so why doesn't he?

I'm not saying America isn't the place to earn the biggest paydays because it clearly is however those sums are reserved for a select few plus a one off lucky dance partner, Ward isn't one of those and it's doubtful he ever will be.

 

The point being he is not a stand alone big earner, he's similar to Shane Mosley in that people will pay to see him in a fight with one of the cash cows but he can't sell it himself.

Which clearly proves my point, to get the "cash cow" fights you have to head to America and attempt to replace them or dominate the division. That's all I've been saying in this thread really and you just proved my point.

Back to the SMW division we gladly go, he won't and doesn't need to travel to fight these guys because he already fought and beat them. They want to avenge losses so they go to him, it's simple really as harsh as it may sound. Surely Froch will do so if he wins but doubt Kessler will.

 

Still the big earners pick him for a reason because he's already established and recognized where it matters, in America.

 

He should do whatever the **** he wants. He already beat both guys anyway. He made Kessler look absolutely silly and beat Froch clearly. Personally, I don't care where he fights. He is the best in the division and #2 pound for pound. If he wants to fight at home, that is his prerogative.

Froch and Kessler are reported to be getting $2m each for their fight. So why wouldn't he want a piece of that pie?

 

That's why moving there and exchanging with different fighters is necessary to bring out the A side in themselves and others. Sadly, that's something Calzaghe never planned to do till Lacy and Kessler decided to make the move to bring out the A side in him.
