I'm no fan if I'm being honest. His style isn't the best to watch. I enjoy watching a technical fighter, but Abril's style is odd, even if it is effective.
Absolutely no way in hell that HBO would greenlight Abril to fight ANYONE. He has only himself to blame since he lost his job at the omelet factory. Even though Showtime was contracted to suck his dick for the night don't expect to see him in any significant fight any time soon.
Hell, I didn't have a problem with Abril. It was Bogere that frustrated the hell out of me. Someone with that kind of speed and athleticism should not be that reckless and sloppy.
Someone mentioned FNF worthy and I'd have to agree. Problem is Abril can't crack an egg so his reach and height mean nothing. I almost split my side laughing when those dickheads at Show said Abril kept Rios at the end of his jab. atsch The reason Abril lost that fight is because his pity pat punches couldn't keep Rios off of him and he tried to tie up when Brandon closed the distance and Rios worked him with his free hand. If you don't believe me, ask to of the three judges.
I watched on and off after round 3. That ref was on Abril from start for any clinching. It was not excessive, fighters always lock up, yet in this bout, as soon as they did, ref was warning Abril. Neither guy impressed me much. Maybe styles made for bad match.
Wow all the boxing "experts" on here are saying Abril doesn't like to "fight" So you guys think a very tall Lightweight with a long reach and lack of power should brawl instead of using his height??
