most people here in sinaloa are pretty astute about boxing and knew that canelos title run was horrible. thats pretty much why we have canelo/trout on april 20. what canelo and gbp finally realized is that a mexican fighters popularity is derived from the caliber of his fights as opposed to being undefeated.
And when that happens, expect all the Trout nuthuggers to suddenly disappear and forget he ever existed while simultaneously shitting on Ginger for smashing an overrated can whose best win was against a shopworn, blown-up Cotto.
well, the bookmakers(guys that know boxing because they back up their mouth with their money unlike douchebags here on this forum) are going to have canelo installed as a +600 to win by tko/ko/dq which is more like +800 because you have to factor in the juice. so canelo, to people that have money as opposed to just a mouth, has about a 12 percent chance of "smashing" trout to people that realize and understand boxing. you understand what im saying?
do you have any recent tangible proof that haymon has been on the right side of a questionable decision in a championship fight? because you can check the scores of gbp promoted championship fights of kirkland/molina(at the time of stoppage van hoye had james winning 86-85), hopkins/dawson(luis rivera 114-114) and morales/garcia(sameul lopez(118-109) and see that gbp has influence on how a judge views a fight. there is no way hopkins drew with dawson or kirland was beating molina nor morales lost by that much of a margin against garcia(i bet on danny and thought the fight was extremely close after the ninth round). most boxing guys interviewed for canelo/trout believe it is 50/50 and i agree. the reason that canelo is going to open as a -250 is because everyone knows that austin will have to win 7-5 or 8-4 and outland canelo by 30-40 punches in order to win. both haymon and trout know this because they know boxing unlke many of the people on this forum.
http://espn.go.com/new-york/story/_/id/8701059/miguel-cotto-learns-lesson-hard-way-austin-trout and if trout outlands canelo by 50 more punches the same way that he did against cotto and canelo ends up winning are you and all the other canelo nuthuggers going to come here and say that the decision was fair and that canelo actually won? because... This is EXACTLY what will happen. ...be ready.
Let's not predict the future here. This is a fight that many of us have great concern with the judging because we expect a close fight either way. I surely hope for a fair decision. I hope the fight is clear enough for all to see who the rightful victor is. You seem pretty confident in Trout for this fight. Serious question. Are you that confident in Austin Trout or that uncertain about Canelo Alvarez?
like most boxing people i dont know how this fight is going to go. the cotto win is really insignifigant because miguel is not a true 154. trout does have wins against rigoberto and lopez, legit jmw's and mw's, so you could make a case that trout has the better exposure to his weight class. because all of canelos title wins except for rhodes are garbage. the four subsequent title defenses were against competition that were compromised and flawed. also, sauls baldomir win was against a carlos who had not fought in almost a year and took the fight on just over one months notice. http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=5435927 the only thing that i can take from this fight on a skill standpoint(favorable judging for canelo is a foregone conclusion) is that gbp(schaeffer and not so much dlh) did not want this fight so they are not entirely confident in canelos skillset against a legit 154. also, an undefeated champion that will stand to lose millions if he is ko'd or soundly defeated does not go around calling for fights that he and his camp are not supremely confident that he will not at least make a good showing for himself, if not publically win by perception even if he loses on the cards. both trout and haymon know a lot more about canelo than the numerous clueless esb bloggers here spouting that canelo is going to ko trout. after all, this is about money. lots of money. austin could have easily fought lessor and compromised competition and no one would ever question him for at least three fights...unlike the current severe backlash against canelo who had no choice but to fight trout, lara or kirkland now in his next title defense(only the most clueless canelo nuthuggers were saying that saul could get away with cotto). furthermore, both ward and sergio have spoken highly of trout and his abilities whereas i have only seen kotszya tszyu, someone with no vested financial interest, speak well of canelo. in fact, both ggg and forbes have been quite about their sparring sessions with canelo(even though saul was put on ***** street against ggg). im pretty much lke you, the bookmakers and most of the knowledgeable boxing people. the bout will go to the cards in a very competitive fight.
Fair and good assessment. I agree with you on most points. I agree that Golden Boy had some obvious hesitance in putting Canelo in against Trout. I think that was more to do with Trout's size and ability more so than Canelo's inability. We have spoken before about the fact that 154 lbs. is the lowest weight class in which Trout has ever fought. Of course, Canelo is a natural 154 pounder at this point in his career, but I feel confindent in saying that Trout is the naturally bigger guy. I kind of see it as a pick 'em fight, but as you know, I am picking Canelo by decision. So I completely agree with the bookmakers, this fight will go to the cards in a competitive fight. As far as the rumors of Canelo getting hurt in sparring by GGG are concerned, if they are true, I am not surpised. GGG is pound-for-pound one of the hardest punchers in boxing today. Maybe Canelo learned something that day. This is off topic, but I believe that both Canelo and Trout would have their hands full with Erislandy Lara. If Floyd Mayweather doesn't man up and face the winner, then Lara should get the winner. What do you think about potential fights between Canlelo/Lara or Trout/Lara? I would pick Lara by decision over Trout. Against Canelo, I would lean toward Lara, but not enough that I would actually pick him. I would have to see how Canelo does against Trout before making that prediction.
