I think the thread is about stylists bracketed as 'spoilers'.

A spoiler is someone who does everything they can to dirty and mess up and disrupt the rhythm of a fight to their advantage.

Old man B-Hop would be the best example.

My definition of a spoiler is the type of fighter that will give a good fighter a hard time - generally over the distance - isn't ordinarily expected to win, yet, every so often upsets the apple-cart. I automatically think of guys like Ralph (Tiger) Jones, Jesse Ferguson and Manning Galloway.

holyfield was great at spoiling lewis's work in their second fight, one of the reasons it was much closer than the first, as holyfield was clearly to old to put up the challange he would put up in his younger heavyweight days

    Fritzie Zivic and Pedroza

Both of may of been infamous dirty fighters, but their main tactics involved nullifying the opposition's offence; thus they were both 'classic' spoilers.

Wright is just a good boxer, nothing spoiling about him.

    Webster's:

    1
    a : one that spoils
b : one who functions as an illuminator and/or miniaturist

    2
a : great aunt or other relative who adds raisins to stuffing despite countless objections
b : a pair of dowsing rods used by Andy Devine during any occult-related ceremony

    3
    a : Milton Berle's *****

    4
    a : vegans
    b : mothers of vegans

I hope that helps clear matters up a bit.

Abraham is wide open. Froch is just awkward.

Out of shape Chang. There's not enough footage of Angott, but I think Chang might just be the best guy in clinches I've ever seen (except John Ruiz but **** him). He had this weird dead leaning routine; I think flea calls it a moppet or something but to me it always resembled when your girlfriend gets plastered and you're trying to move her, and she's leaning all over you and suddenly weighs as much as a grand piano. This trick literally saved his title against German Torres, when Chang couldn't throw more than one punch at a time, but he would then grab Torres like a damned life raft.

Limpet and yes he used it to buy himself time, and he could tie you up like an Octopus and work with his free hand constantly. He had a canny way of making it look like he was on the wrong end of the rough housing too, a real expert on the inside like this.

    Great post, great shout.
