Let me answer both replies since both are basically the same, if Nevada wanted to do something in regards to his previous test that he failed they should have done so back then.

There is no reason they should now bring that up and use it to maximize the kind of money they are looking to gain here which is exactly what they are doing.

I am guessing that he is fined a percentage of his purse and I am confident his purse for the Martinez fight dwarfs the previous purse in which he failed the previous test.

So to me likely Nevada is using the previous test to maximize what they can get out of Chavez Jr...... I am sorry but I just do not agree with what Nevada is doing in terms of the amount that they are fining him..... I really hope he does see this legal suit through....

 

Kirk i would agree with u if he fail it 1 time but he fail it twice regardless if its steriods or weeds, he fail it.

 

I'm not opposed to people smoking weed, and like most on here I think the legal attitudes towards its use are preposterous and antiquated, BUT it is illegal and Jr should have known better.

 

I think its good what nevada did. They are telling chavez he aint getting way that easy cause he fail it in another state dont mean it should be ignored.

 

We obviously disagree, I think that the fine amount is too much.... and if they get away with it this opens the door for them to continue to make money off of fighters over **** like this....

Weed is not a PED though I agree in the real world and I have said it before in the real world if you test positive for weed you lose your job, here its not like he is losing his job and he has an opportunity to make a very good living in this sport there has to be some sort of accountability I agree with that.

But I also believe that the amount is just insane it makes the commission look desperate for money.....

Recidivism is taken into account in determining pretty much any punishment. Acting outraged that they actually counted the second offense as strike 2 makes little sense to me. This is especially the case when it's not just the second offense but the second straight offense. Don't get me wrong, this is an obvious cash grab, but Chavez sure makes it easy for them by blatantly acting like the rules don't apply to him.

Yup 2,500 but was suspended fot a year in which chavez only got suspended for 9 month in which nevada said his suspended started a day after his fight with martinez in which his suspension ends in june.
