I do not fully expect that. :verysad He's entitled to stay at 147 if he wants, but there ain't **** there for him. It would be dull as ****, but whatever. Pea didnt stick around at 154, but he fought prime DLH and Trinidad, so who gives a ****.
It doesn't, but it's Marquez's fault that it's the worst match up for him, but that could be said of Nelson-Whitaker too. One things for sure, Mayweather would beat Nelson easy too. Would I have a 154lb Nelson beating a 140lb Whitaker, probably...but I'd definitely have a 154lb prime Marquez losing to a 140lb Mayweather by UD. Pacquiao is also a bad matchup for Mayweather, more so than Chavez for Whitaker. 'Beating the best welter in the world' - Don't agree but I understand. Vasquez or Martinez? I'd probably pick Martinez. The difference is there and I have Pernell > Mayweather at the end of all of this. Regardless of which 'way' you go, the difference in the top opposition is small/minimal. ...now: mayweather's other wins > pernell's other wins - this definitely evens it out. You have to include this factor. It all plays a part in Mayweather's greatness in his own right, not thinking about Pernell Whitaker. consistency, abilities against different styles, longevity etc. etc. Whitaker, someone who is TOP 20, has worse competition across his whole career. - If this doesn't matter, then Fighting Harada would be higher in my rankings. The fact is, this does matter.
Guerrero is the interim titlist and a top 3 welterweight. Dude is tough as nails too so I've no problem with it. Floyd is old.
Devon is an ACTUAL titlist. Guerrero being in the top 3 just shows you how weak 147lbs is. Floyd is old, but would still have no problem humiliating someone as mediocre as Guerrero. But whatever floats your boat, friend. :good
the point being I'm not putting it past Uncle Jose stripping Mayweather and having Guerrero as full champ, so it's best for Floyd to get this out of the way. Canelo is a top 2 154 lb'er, what's that say about 154?
I'm not comparing them as if Mayweather has all these wins you're assuming he does. I'm kickin that reality, what it is right now ****, Anj. Chavez/DLH/Trinidad/Vasquez are more dangerous/threatening opponents than anyone Floyd has fought. Prime McGirt and Nelson are on the same level as anyone else he has. Most of the time I really get a kick out of playing the Floyd angle (especially in the GF) considering I'm a fan. This is the worst example you could've possibly used, though.
Boxing today does not allow anyone to become a top 50 ATG. Ward is the next best thing, and he is not getting there unless he goes and beats up guys in cruiserweight.
But your point was '47 was weak because Guerrero is a top 3 and isn't good. yet Canelo being top 2 isn't particularly flattering for that division either.
