Watched the first fight again the other day. Froch fought pretty crap IMO he fought hard and it was a war but he was a bit all over the place with no real gameplan. The more seasoned Froch I feel wins this.
All true. Conversely, that was Kessler at the bottommost point of his decline and precipitated by horrendous showings (by his pre-2007 standards) against Perdomo and Ward. We should see a much better Froch - but a much better Kessler as well.
I had the first a clear but competitive win for Kessler, but this time round I reckon Froch will stop him. He's improved since 2010 whilst Kessler's continued going downhill and is no longer the same fighter physically. Don't see his body holding up.
WTF are you talking about? That is literally the opposite of true, just unequivocally false. Have you even seen him since Froch I?
Prime Kessler (2004-2007) >>>> Current renaissance Kessler (2011-present) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Dark ages Kessler (2008-2010) It hasn't been plotted on a straight line. He declined sharply and looked to be shot to hell, then came back greatly improved. (with new abilities to compensate for the loss of sharpness from his straight-ahead 1-2 days...he's no longer the lost-ship-at-sea clumsy plodder he became in '08 when his old tools dulled. Montoya has done a fantastic job rehabilitating and revamping his style...)
Kessler needed that break IMO Continuing the Super 6 wouldn't have helped him much if all his injury reports were true.
their age begs to differ this rematch will be all about ego again. it'll be all about respect, they will leave it all in the ring - but it will also be exactly the type of contest it was in the first fight
 You're ****ing ******ed. His physical gifts that supported his style through 2007 declined. They declined over the period of 2008-2010. They haven't returned, physical gifts once gone are gone. They haven't continued to worsen, dumb ass, they've leveled off and stayed in as bad shape as they were in 2008-2010. He is, however, a better fighter than he was in 2008-2010 because he's compensated with stylistic changes and Montoya's new bag of tricks to make the most of what he does have left. So the part where you say he's "continued going downhill" is just flat out ****ing stupid and 100% opposite of true, and the part about him declining even further physically is also inaccurate...he's remained the same in terms of athleticism/physical talent but it's irrelevant because of the augmentations that he's made. Also, if you want to dick around with semantics - reading it strictly as you wrote it, "He's improved since 2010 whilst Kessler's continued going downhill and is no longer the fighter physically" - implies that his physical decline happened from 2010 to the present. That's insane. It had already completely set in by 2010.
i have to agree with rico - you're reaching if you think kessler 'declined' over those years. kessler isn't an adaptive or particularly smart fighter you're talking about a time when the super six was in session, and this was the most competitive time of his career (apart from the calzaghe fight)
You're wrong. It's plain as day watching him against Perdomo, Ward and Froch that he was floundering. Now you predictable knuckleheads are going to surely lay in next with "that's because of who he was in with! Ward and Froch made him look bad being such high class... :blabla" Bull****. He looked bad on top of and entirely separate from being in with a high level. He just didn't do the same things as well anymore, nor was he trying any plan B. Montoya has brought that plan B, and it's working. He's also able to ****ing see now, since the eye surgery.
it's childish to start labelling people who don't agree with you - especially when you start to get emotionally invested as you are now i thought you were bigger than that... who do you think 'plan b' worked against to transform kessler..who was of the calibre of ward and froch?
