Depends whether you think Baldomir or Hatton are Basilio's equal I guess.

PowerPuncher as I always say, taking someone's best victory from them tends to see them rank a little lower. A footnote? Enough of us respect say, Gil Turner, for me to think Basilio would still have his fans.

Because I don't think he's as good as everyone else does, obviously. I see Basilio outworking Floyd with little bother about what's coming back at him, although cuts would be an issue with Floyd's handspeed of course.

 

How many Basilio fights have you seen? How many Billy Graham fights have you seen? How many Kid Gavilan fights have you seen?

 

A bit simplistic, Floyd can at least 'keep him honest'. Basilio lands the better stuff if they exchange obviously, on the outside Basilio gets mugged, Basilio misses more than ever and on the inside Floyd hustles and spoils when Basilio looks to get his work done inside and ofcourse there'd be a fair bit of counter punching.

 

Fair enough, I just don't think your evaluation can be taken too seriously unless you've taken into account all the 'evidence' beforehand. Im no 'expert' myself, just not as impressed with Mayweather as a lot of folks seem to be.

This thread is essentially 'if we give Floyd a free pass for everything' so as I said; useless tosh for the best part.

PP; very simplistic to assume Floyd will do all of that because he stuck his elbow in Hatton's mug. I mean, Ortiz and Cotto have laid hands on Floyd for ****s sake.

beating martinez though would get him into top 25 at least. no former 130 lber ever won the lineal title and that is just huge if he does it.

 

He didn't really need to go through the gears against Hatton

For Cotto and Ortiz he was what, 35? And he still got hit very little

 

tbf to carmen its the fact that he is a welter moving up and beating the middleweight champ, which happens to be one of the best fighters ever as well as having excellent wins at WW. not that hard to grasp imo
