I don’t think this is good for Broner’s career. When it comes to creating a solid legacy across multiple divisions, Broner almost has the complete package – skills, reach, size, etc. But here they’re already moving him up to the division where he’ll max out, without giving him a chance to rack up decent wins at 135 and 140. You can understand why HBO are wanting to do this (all of the decent opponents at 135 and 140 are on different networks), but I don’t see why GBP would agree with it.
Malignaggi would beat Rios, and take 3-4 rounds off of Mattysee. Also 50/50 against judah. Tough fight for Broner. Definitely not a cherry pick.
garcia, lucas, and khan will be at welterweight soon so its really not a big deal. matthysse has already had some welter fights
Interesting fight but a major leap from anything he's ever experienced as a pro. Paulie isn't heavy handed but skill wise he's operating at a very high level. He's fast and accurate. His problem is his lack of power and brittle hands. But Adrien is jumping not 1 but 2 weight classes. Not an easy thing to do but out of all the quality welterweights Paulie presents the least risk....no one knows if Broner can handle such an extreme change. Physically it's a process that usually takes a couple of years of steady progression, but sometimes special athletes prove exceptions can be made and Broner is a special kid....he's a problem but he may not be as big a problem at 147. Logically, I'm inclined to roll with Paulie because he can hold his own against the best at 147. He's proven....Adrien will surprise me if he is able to carry his power and speed up with him but I hope he does.
I'd pick both Vasquez & Burns to take a 2013 version of Paulie aswell let alone the 140lbs guys... Mallinaggi is done.
Rios got schooled by Abril. Why would you think he can beat Paulie? Hell atleast admit itd be a close fight?
OH **** I just caught on, he's ducking the top dogs at 140, nice move hes controlled by Haymon afterall.
