    Murata was like Moon-lite.

    Yeah, Chandler probably did. Shall we all rescore it just to be sure? And then terrorise Philly when we all decide the Jap' was robbed of a 15-0 whitewash?

    It's not a big robbery, of course.

    But what's even more surprising about the result is that the fight took place in Japan.

    It's like Kalambay losing to Kalule in his own home yard.

    Or a poor man's Chang maybe?

    Nah, he most probably didn't.:tong

    I don't think it's a good idea.

    Philly is still in shock after realizing that Zarate is miles better than Chandler.

    Let the wounds heal.

    Close. I fink Chandler did enough to salvage it but he almost got his head knocked of by those rights.

    A mix of both but not as good, or maybe a better Kyung-Yung Lee.

    Certainly more a Korean stylist than a Japanese.

    He probably did. Although 8-7 either way is fair, and probably 9-6 to either man too, Murata probably deserved a knockdown in the first as the ropes saved Jeff from 'Joltin' onto his backside, and therefore would've made my card:

    JEFF CHANDLER VS EJIRO MURATA I

    CHANDLER: 2; 3; 6; 7; 8; 9; 10; 13;
    MURATA: 1; 4; 5; 11; 12; 14; 15

    CHANDLER: 143-142 MURATA

    :a draw. Horrible fight to score though really, Chandler's jab versus Murata's lack of one, the champ's attempts to stifle action on the inside or make room for his snappy uppercut against Murata's want to clinch and mug Chandler on the inside by simply swinging his arms. Murata seemed to have the bigger dig in their first bout, for sure.

    In the 1st and 15th, definitely.

    Great to see a classic Philly inside battle at bantam.

    Billy Peacock Vs Jeff Chandler would've been a great fight I'm sure.

    Raton was brilliant mate, I'd say moreso than Becerra even. That post-Ortiz to Jofre era remains fairly underrated, and Peacock was just a contender. Inconsistent, but clearly brilliant on his day. The top guys, the two Mexicans in the opening sentence, Carruthers, and probably Halimi as well (possibly Cohen) were all bloody, bloody good fighters.

    He looked like a lesser fighter in the 3rd bout, that's for sure.

    I seem to recall Lora mentioning that Murata had a very short prime.

    Toney vs Jirov, my third time watching this dinger of a fight. I don't know how either man lasted the full 12 rounds, because they were nailing each other with flush shots all night. Toney deserved to nick it with his huge 12th round knockdown, but Jirov made him work all the way, constantly backing him up with huge pressure and workrate. It kind of worked in Toney's favor in a certain way though, because he counter pinched beautifully off the ropes in every round, doing some significant damage to the iron chinned, big hearted Jirov. It all took its tool in the 12th, and if there had been thirty seconds more, Jirov could have been stopped.

    For his legacy, its a pity that Toney didn't stay at cruiser-weight, he looked in solid shape, and from his lone title fight in the division, he looked good. Perhaps he could have reigned for a few years there? At any rate he obviously went were the money was at heavy.

    RODOLFO MARTINEZ VS BEAVER KAJIMOTO

    MARTINEZ: 3; 4; 5; 6; 7; 8; 9; 10
    KAJIMOTO: 1; 2(+1);

    MARTINEZ 97-92 KAJIMOTO

    Looks like another amazing night at the Forum here, with Enrique Pinder beating Chucho Castillo and Rafael Herrera defeating Ruben Olivares for the second time. Perhaps the least appreciated member of that cluster of excellent Mexican bantams is Rodolfo Martinez.

    Here, uploaded by the legendary rayrobinson333, the underrated future Bantamweight champ’ takes on the diminutive but gutsy Japanese journeyman Yoshio ‘Beaver’ Kajimoto.

    The 2nd and 3rd rounds are great, with the switch-hitting Martinez showing more variety, including his cultured left hand to head and body, and the tiny but strong Beaver landing the harder shots, including a booming overhand right that bounces off Martinez’s chin in the 2nd and leaves him flat out and badly hurt.

    Martinez finds his range after those rounds, and in orthodox reminds me a little of a little De La Hoya. Beaver gets through at times with his overhand right, which he does whip in fast, but Martinez controls the pace for the majority of the bout.
