He must have knew coming down in weight would be a ***** for him, so why did he go down to 145 instead of the 147 limit?:huh
There was a hidden clause put in by Team Pac. A rehydration one too why else do you think he only gained like 2lbs back :verysad
i have never heard of that. what i read was that oscar had a bad cut, his body went into shock, he couldnt retain water so they had to use an iv and when freddy saw the iv marks he made a large bet on manny( i believe for 50k at +200).
actually i thought he couldnt put the weight back or some shite like that because he was struggling to make the weight. he supposedly only gained 2 pounds after the weigh in
Only gained 2 pounds after the weigh in? Holy ****, that man literally could not have eaten anything for an entire day.
I remember reading his stomach got too small and it wouldn't take anything in. He cut too much weight too early. I think he tried to be able to walk around close to the limit weeks before the fight so he could train under those conditions comfortably, but it backfired and his body lowered it's capacity for nutrient and water intake.
Pretty sure thats false, and will now just be quoted around as if it was true by everyone buying it I think Roach said he saw the IV marks when they were face to face in the ring. Otherwise, when exactly would he have seen the IV marks. Think about it. At the weigh in? You think Hoya was getting IV'd before the weigh in? So unless Roach made a bet as fast as he could after seeing Hoya in the face off inside the ring right before the first bell.... preeeeettty sure that didnt happen.
He only had to come down to 147 and he made 151 easily for his tune up with Stevie months before. He knew it would be a challenge to get down to welterweight, but that's why he incorporated a scientific approach to his camp. He got a nutritionist and a strength & conditioning coach and easily made the 147 pound limit...weighing in 2 lbs under. He and Nacho felt comfortable with his weight and conditioning going into the fight but unfortunately wasn't prepared to face a guy who came up 2 divisions who held an overwhelming speed advantage.
but Pac didn't have any bargaining leverage. Oscar was the bigger draw, and he stipulated everything.
If you ever noticed the boxers who are renowned for being fit and in exceptional shape before and after fights, where they do not balloon up in weight usually only put on a few pounds from the time of weigh in to the time of the fight. Fighters who balloon up in weight in between fights, and have to cut a lot to make weight....usually pack on a LOT of weight on fight night. Which is typically NOT the sign of cutting weight the proper way.
