I think Mayweather is great and almost has an invincible aura about him but that prime Pacquiao was a beast and i think he would have absolutely battered Mayweather.

It would have been a sad sight for big Mayweather fans.

I think Mayweather knew this so made up a theory that Pacquiao was on peds.

Obviously this thread has been done countless of times but i honestly think the Pacquiao of the Cotto fight dominates him for the first time in his career.

    Maybe.

Certainly wouldn't dominate, but maybe beats him. '09 was when it should have happened.

Good chance. There's a good reason why Floyd wanted none of that, and it didn't have anything to do with "power pellets."

He dominated a prime Cotto. Two years later Cotto roughhoused Mayweather and give him a decent fight.

No version of Pacquaio, beats any version of Mayweather. Pac is just not in Floyd's class.

I felt Floyd did everything in his power not to have the fight. He made up a theory because he was petrified of Pacquiao.

In every interview he was stuttering when Pac was mentioned at the time.

Pacquiao isn't scared of losing but Floyd is.

Floyd is scared of losing in case he becomes unmarketable which would cut future earnings.

He keeps mentioning he wouldn't fight so and so because he's lost. Manny Pacquiao has already lost so and so times so i won't fight him...etc...

The guy ducked prime Pacquiao plain and simple.

He would have had egg on his face if it he did lose to Pacquiao.

I definitely think that was the fight when Pacquiao was at his absolute best. However, Cotto was able to outbox him at several points in that fight, so I still say that Floyd beats him at that point, but it would have been a very close fight.

If Mayweather was so sure he would beat him, and Mayweather obviously loves money. Then why did he not fight Pacquiao in 09?

It would have been the best selling fight of all time.

No. But it's funny how once Pac fought someone with great counter punching skills at welterweight he got severely outclassed, and resorted to waiting around and throwing tentatively while Marquez outboxed him horribly.

Then all of a sudden Manny was on the decline? He had hardly been touched in his last 3 or so fights. Do people forget that Marquez was like 38 on top that?

It doesn't matter. Styles make fights. When was he severely outclassed? Because he was knocked out? Your logic is flawed. He's never been severely outclassed by Marquez only knocked out by him.

Marquez wouldn't do what Pac did against Cotto at 140 or 147.
