Yaca, way I see it is simple:

If Chael can hold Silva down, Weidman can do that and do damage.

Weidman should have gotten a warm up bout. With a one fight buffer, he brutalizes Anderson pretty easily. But since he didn't get one, he'll probably just win via lopsided decision.

Cheal Sonnen is a different type of fighter though. Sonnen is a high activity fighter with no power similar to clay guida. Weidman is less active but more power. The activity was reason for the sucsess that Chael did have, also does weidman have the cardio to keep that sort of activity up for 5 rounds Cheal didnt.

Cheal's takedowns are better than weidmans. Flea you've seen what anderson was able to do to Sonnen in the 2nd round of their fight last year. If weidman cant get the takedown he will get brutalized standing.

Weidmans submission defense is really what sets him apart from Chael who was quickly submitted by Damien Maia when they fought years ago who Weidman was never in trouble with on the ground (thats impressive but it didnt seem as if Maias gameplan was to actively seek a submission). Silvas submissions are much different though where as Maia works for submissions through positional control mostly. He was using mostly a butterfly guard to get a sweep or get to his feet against weidman. Anderson silvas guard is almost always closed, and is meant for defense or and to make you tier. Then at some point after he sees/creates and opening he attacks with a submission with very high success similar to Big Nog.

Over all I dont think Weidmans will have as much success taking down Silva as Sonnen did. I dont think he is active enough in top position to stop Silvas control/defensive guard and Weidman hasn't shown the agression and power to make me think he will finish silva from Andersons guard. I dont think he will be able to submit Silva The fighters he has submitted weren't top 10 caliber opponent. I dont think he will be able to keep silva down for most/ all of the round like Sonnen was. Their will be many opportunities for silva to strike with Weidman, and he can't win a striking battle with Anderson.

Their are a lot of unanswered questions about Weidman that will be put to the test against Silva. Like how will he hold up against a top striker in the stand up. Can he pass Silvas closed guard. How is Weidmans stamina in a grueling 5 round fight.

I see a pretty easy win for silva. He might lose an early round against weidman due to a takedown or two but thats probably it. I'm guessing a tko stoppage inside 3 for the Spider.

Your living in fantasy land. Everyone is entitled to their opinion though.

Theres always a chance that the Weidman everyone is talking about will be way more motivated & better than he was since this is a title shot
your always have to give a young guy with an undefeated record whos hungry respect
I think he can open a lot of eyes
its been done in the past & Anderson isn't getting any younger

After Anderson beats Weidman, I wonder who will be the next Middleweight contender he's supposedly scared of fighting.

    Time after time this happens.

If Rockhold beats Vitor, it will be him. I don't know how they are going to try to spin that one.

God knows, they will find a way.

You know what I think will be funny? when the day finally comes when Anderson loses, there will be people on here and Sherdog who are gonna be like "I always knew he wasn't ****!"

I've never claimed Weidman is ****, and if he beats Spider he'll have earned any kudos that come his way as a result. Let's hope he puts up the performance of his life and provides us with a great contest :good
