coming up 10 divisions is much harder than cutting down one division

this is why Oscar was heavy heavy favourite

what did Lampley say afte the fight

"alright larry you imagined this fight , could Pac fight the huge welterweight Antonio Margarito"

"no and even he said he was going back down to 140lbs"

he did go down - destroiy hatton come back up destroy cotto (oscar hatton cotto in a 12 month period- insane back to back superfights)

the he did destroy Margarito - ABOVE Welterweight !!!!

You just cant down play what Pac has done you haters !!!

You've made some good points, but it doesn't alter the fact that Oscar was dead at the weight. You're right about Oscar gassing, and the weight he normally rehydrated to sometimes went against him. They're very good points.

But the fact remains that he hadn't made 147 in nearly 8 years, and he was only able to rehydrate 2 pounds. It's irrelevant saying that his average rehydration weight hindered him. The point is, he wasn't able to rehydrate his normal amount.

Freddie Roach expected him to rehydrate between 10-15 pounds. His walking around weight before camp was way above 160. He went all the way down to 145, the lightest he'd been for years, and then only put 2 pounds back on a day and a half later. Do some research, he wasn't healthy.

I said in my post that Manny would have troubled him anyway, but Oscar's body was depleted. There's no argument to counter that claim. When he fought at 154, he'd put 10 pounds + on, but yet when he went to 145, he only put 2 on? Again do some research. Oscar was happy with the weight limit, and Manny fought great, but I don't see how it can be classed as a great win.

Freddie didn't say that Oscar couldn't pull the trigger to get under his skin. He said it because it was true. Freddie used to train him, and he knew the stage that Oscar was at. Freddie's not an idiot. He'd never have put Manny in the ring against a late 20's - early 30's version of Oscar.

This post is not to have a dig at Manny. But Oscar was ill going into that fight.

Good points, Oscar was happy to fight at 147, and you're right, he fought Forbes at 150 in May. But he rehydrated a lot more than 2 pounds and he was healthy.

After Forbes, he put a bit of weight on though. In late Sept - early Oct his walking around weight was high.

People are looking at it (I'm not saying you are) as though all he did was lose just another 5 pounds, from what he did against Forbes. But it was a significant difference. Losing those extra 5 pounds after he'd gained weight after the Forbes fight, took it's toll. There's a big difference between 150 and 145, 7 months later in another camp, when you're nearly 36, and you haven't been there for nearly 8 years.

He used to naturally rehydrate to around 10 pounds per fight at 154. Weighing in at 145, he was expected to weigh more. But he only put 2 pounds extra on. He was simply dead at the weight come fight night. He says himself he takes full responsibility, and he thought he could make the weight healthily. But he couldn't. Again I don't take anything away from Manny, but his self proclaimed greatest achievement, is beating a near 36 year old weight drained Oscar. I can't see the great achievement.

    Who's hating?

Did Manny jump up 10 divisions all at once, or was it over a period of time?

Gaining weight in your 20's is much much easier than losing weight in your late 30's.

It's easy for you to say that all Oscar had to do was to move down one division. He hadn't fought there for nearly 8 years.

Oscar was a huge favourite, on the assumption that he could make the weight healthily. He was expected to weigh in at 147, and then come to the ring between 157-162. He came in at 147. When was the last time Oscar weighed 147 on fight night?

Mate, you're a fantastic poster but you are wasting debate space with them (PS Oskee was only a 2-1 fave)

Anything that could possibly be against Pac automatically makes you a hater. If they knew your stance on Floyd/Pac their tune would change drastically but like I said, it's not worth it my friend.

    Hiya mate!

I'm on holiday too. I must be mad ha!

It's getting harder to have a great debate on here. It's a shame.

I never got around to watching that video that you posted me of Lance. I was really busy just before I came away. I'll watch it as soon as I get back, and then I'll get back to you.

    Cheers Turbo!

Oscar was 151 in his previous fight

plus Pac destroyed all other heavier boxers- demolished them also

If Nacho came out and said that Oscar was drained or depleted I would believe this excuse a lot more because he was head trainer and doesn't have any problems speaking his mind.....but Nacho went the opposite way in that he said Oscar was in great shape going into the fight. Fighters are renowned for coming up with excuses after a loss....With all the IV and rehydration clause stories going around, even DLH himself didn't validate those rumors because even he knows those are some bull**** excuses he couldn't even stand behind.

Nacho was saying that to cover his own ass as a trainer. Oscar should not have even fought in the condition he was in. Dude was sick, plain and simple.

Boxers have been cutting weight for decades.
LaMotta was a LHW but starved himself constantly to make MW
He used train on water and still kicked Ray Robinson's ass.
Theres too much crying about fighters being drained.
That version of Manny would of been way to much for any Hoya between 3-4 years before he retired.
That Manny would also of beat Mayweather imo.
