Hopkins vs Cloud - Final Predictions?

People have been waiting on Hopkins to get old overnight. It hasn't happened yet. Assuming he has at least what he had for the Pascal fights. Hopkins by boxing clinic. Cloud is shorter than Pascal, and has shorter arms. He can crack when he punches with his knuckles instead of the inside of the fist, but that is the minority of the time. Cloud is also a plodder. Right up Hopkins' alley. As I said, Assuming Hopkins has at least what he had for the Pascal fights. Cloud is a very good match up for him.

 

That's a big assumption to make considering they were 2 years ago and at his age, 2 years is a lot. Basically, it's impossible to know how he will have aged, but I'm picking Cloud assuming Hopkins will have aged/slowed at least a little.

More to do with the stylistic Match up. Dawson has good defense, height, and reach advantages over Hopkins, speed advantage, counter punching advantage, quickness advantage etc. Hopkins' body is too old to react, and also too old to athletically position himself like he needs to be positioned to beat a rangy boxer with every advantage outside of ring intelligence, and defense. Hopkins didn't get beat up. He didn't have a mark on him, and it is arguable that he landed the flusher, cleaner shots of the fight, upstairs. Throwing 10 punches a round and landing 4, while your opponent throws 30 a round and lands 3, won't win rounds. Dawson's has a decent defense/guard, and Hops didn't have many openings. Again, being too slow of reaction, to counter punch Dawson effectively. Where as Pascal is much more hittable then Dawson. Cloud is less athletic, and more flat footed than even Pascal is. Cloud is a plodder. Work rate don't mean ****, if you can't cut off the ring with decent footwork. The Hopkins from the Dawson fight, I would pick over Cloud. Just as I am picking this Hopkins over Cloud. If Hopkins has gas in the tank for 12 rounds, he will win. He has physical advantages over Cloud, that he didn't have over Dawson. Dawson could also match his movement. Cloud won't be able to.

 

most people pick Hopkins to win. People know he handpicked Cloud to get a win.

 

I told myself I'm never going to bet against B-hop but I can't bet on him, Due to him putting on recent theatrical performances, I'll go with were my vcash is which is on the draw. If I had to bet then I'd go with Pops.

 

I have never, ever picked against Hopkins.

I will not stray from tradition this time around. All depends on how much of his punch resistance is still intact. If Cloud can't manage to seriously hurt him then 'Nard has it in the bag.

 

Cloud is officially the worst champion in the world once K9 lost.

Hopkins Stylewise this a great fight for Hopkins. Only reason to pick a guy like Cloud, is because of Hopkins age. Yeah he lost to Dawson, but Team Hopkins knew that was a bad fight anyway which is why he was reluctant to fight him for years.

 

He lost due to low work rate. He didn't get beat up, he hardly got hit. Cloud isn't 6'3, with long arms, good defense, and handspeed though. Hopkins will pull another one out of the hat.
