haye has good skills and hits hard. stamina is very bad and this means when he expects a tough fight he will pace himself and it can be boring to watch. but at his best he can be explosive and entertaining.

Ironically if Huck had decent head movement and foot speed he'd be a clone of Haye.

yeah, haye gets a lot of stick for the wlad fight, but when you've got a fighter as defensive as wlad in with a counter puncher it's not going to be a slugfest. both fought well imo but wlad has more physical advantages and had the better tactical gameplan as you'd expect with manny in his corner.
haye has booth in his corner who while well versed in nutrition and sport science is only an average trainer. never seems to have a plan b

B skills, A athlete, P for *****, M for mouthpiece.....the Wlad fight was a disgrace regardless of styles making it a potential borefest. Wlad fights safety first, and Haye wouldn`t engage, wouldn`t take risks.... Not wanting to get knocked out when having a shot at the title and kingpin of the division who you ran your mouth incessantly about shows all you need to know about this guy at heavy (he is a certifiable stud at cruiser). You would think a boxer who has a shot at the pinnacle of his chosen sport wouldn`t coast through his opportunity. I don`t care if Wlad was nullifying Hayes offense, Haye didn`t adjust, didn`t adapt, didn`t try, and didn`t show an ounce of guts or a desire to be great. He has a vagina.

Haye is an explosive fighter first and foremost so fights in fits and starts. He's not big enough nor has the chin to be an effective pressure fighter at heavyweight. As a result has never needed to do the roadwork. It's a different type of fitness.

His overall skills are very decent indeed. A great cruiserweight, a good heavyweight.

Haye, great athelete, but like lewis said doesnt throw as much, he has the talent, has the tools, but doesnt take risks, his punch output is extremely low this is because through out the fight he only looks to counter, and it is difficult to counter Wlads fast jab, and distance awareness.

Further can get off balance when throwing his power shots, and can gas out.

If he had a great trainer like Steward, i think he would have beaten Wlad, he has the skills, he has the talent no doubt, he has the determination.

I blame booth more, booths plan was safety first, booths plan was run, then in short bursts ambush. that is what david Haye is an ambush fighter, you survive his ambush, he will then run, and you can make him look bad.

This is david Haye, run around the ring try to counter, then suddenly ambush, then come out and run again, but while hes running doesn't really throw a jab, or anythng, thus his punch output is so low.

I give him credit for the chisora fight, he had to prove to the fans, and he did that, he fought well, and showed a lot of skill in head movement, etc, even though now watching again, Chisora also seemed to have bigger gloves, and i wouldnt be suprised if he tried to tamper them in the dressing room, but Haye won so...

Fast & athletic with good pop... But possesses the overall skillset of a clubfighter.

Sam Peter + Speed/Athleticism - All the lard = David Haye

Agree with most on here. Very good athlete, very good speed and reflexes for a heavyweight and well above average power. Under-rated defence: he doesn't get hit a lot (good upper body movement and light on his feet). Chin mightn't be granite but he does fairly well protecting it, it's not bad either. In terms of fundamentals, he is quite good but relies more on athleticism.

I think his main weakness is his stamina. And he often isn't active enough because I think he knows he may gas out: I think he relies on explosiveness which diminishes when he gets tired so he tries to preserve it. I thought he was starting to get tired against Chisora until he KO'd him: If Chisora had held on it would have made for an interesting ending. In fairness to him he let his hands go a lot more in the Chisora fight, probably due to the fact that it was only 10 rounds and the slagging he had gotten for the Wlad fight.

All in all, he is certainly one of the best heavyweights around at the moment, love him or hate him, and it'd be a pity and a waste if he didn't fight on. He could be involved in some of the biggest fights in the division

Although his stamina isn't great it's not as bad as people make out. Against Chisora he looked tired but not gassing, he was fully capable of going the distance at the fast pace Chisora set. I expect any athlete to look tired fighting at a quick pace set by their opponent, boxers get tired all the time but it doesn't mean they have poor stamina.

It was only the 5th round though. I don't think personally that he would have been able to keep up that pace for the full fight.

Today's standing is using Haye's own record as a yardstick; Barrett, Valuev, Harrison, Klitschko, Chisora...Only one of those is great (Convincingly beaten) One of them is good (Majority decision)

He can't be considered great, not with that list. If he beats a Vitali on the slide and then Wlad then sure. Until then there's; Pulev, Helenius, Fury who provide a decent test of his 'greatness'.

Average skills with great athleticism. Great reflexes to duck from Wlad's shots despite a broken toe, but take athleticism away he'd be pretty average. Only time I saw him throw a combination was vs. Delboy, but looked like **** against Wlad. Hardly any body punches either or any inside game despite being the smaller man at hw. Needs to watch old Holyfield videos to learn to be a real great hw champ. Skills are avg at best.

He trained for it, in interviews afterwards him and Booth both said they were expecting ten rounds of constant pressure because Chisora is hard to shift. Like I said there's a difference between tired and gassed.
