Theres a boxer who I've found out about recently, Diosbelys Hurtado has an amazing record and only lost to great fighters such as Pernell Whitaker, Kostya Tszyu and had a draw with Ricardo Mayorga the rest of his fights are wins. He only had one loss to a journeyman late in his career most likely when out of hsi prime.

    His record is here: http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=6093&cat=boxer

He had some bad nicknames, Black Money and The Oriental Kid. His first name Diosbelys is similar to "Diablo" he should have nicknamed himself that, Diosbelys "Diablo" Hurtado sounds so cool.

What do you guys think about his career and the nickname I chose for him.

Hurtado wasn't great at all. He had a chin of the finest china. He was an above average boxer who gave people lots of problems. Very skilled. His chin always let him down in his biggest fights.

He was very skilled, extremely fast, flashy, for a long time also avoided. He was undefeated when he met Pernell Whitaker, one of the finest boxers ever and he was winning that fight, including two counts to the great Pernell, until he got cornered in round 11, receiving a blow to his chin followed by a barrage of heavy blows.

If you see that video you can see the the referee just blocked his way out of that corner, and thereafter reacted very slow to the happenings. Hurtado receiced a beating that night in that corner after that blow to the jaw ...

It has to be noted that Tszyu fought him on short notice(as a replacement).

Troll thread, but Dio is actually one of my personal faves from that era.

Loads of talent, but tragically fragile. Sort of like Bruce Seldon, actually.

He wasn't great but he is underappreciated and overlooked as a solid name on some of those guys' resumes.

He damn near beat Sweet Pea Whitaker, outboxing him no less...granted a past prime Pea but that still speaks to his worth h2h.

He fought kostya 2 weeks after winning a 10 rds UD...
    His management was horrendous .
Excellent technician but didn't take punches very well. His best win against Bradley but his best performance against pernell Whitaker

I really wish Hurtado could've held on and ridden out the W over Pea.

It wouldn't have damaged Pernell's legacy in the least, given his circumstances at the time and where he was in his career.

It would have greatly enhanced Hurtado's and cemented him with a signature victory as the very good fighter he truly was...and not 'a tomato can who got kayoed by a blown up feather fist ahahaderpaderp' as he is relegated by some ignorant boxrec scholars.

Viv Harris was trash. Barely above Jmen status.

Not really in general terms, but maybe at his worst.

Another guy like Hurtado who had some of the pieces but never quite everything together.

He's not a great fighter and his record is not amazing.

He was a very good boxer-puncher who I enjoyed watching. Very good technique and tactics.

Whitaker showed how good he was when Hurtado turned out to be a better boxer than the master boxer and Whitaker turned into a stalker puncher.

there was always a sort of fragility overshadowing the very good boxing of Hurtado
Pee was just slightly past his prime when getting outboxed but managed a brutal ko
Tszyu went down a couple of times but those were flash knockdowns caused by the great handspeed of the Cuban
he was never hurt and in the clinches he used his strength and rough tactics to wear Hurtado down and eventually stop him
Hurtado was a guy who was great in certain aspects of the game but also had serious shortcomings
he was a contender in a time that being a contender = excellent fighter

Vivian Harris was just as good fighter, who could have been better. Unfortunately, he never really learned hot to use the size advantage he had over fighters in his weight class. He didn't really know how to box.

Is he still active? He last fought in 2011. I remember watching his fight with Whitaker in shock that someone could even hang in the ring with him.
