Poor gameplan from Birmingham. There is no reason Thurman, who I'm pretty sure is 160+ on fight night, should be backing up. That takes a lot of steam off his power. Meh. Good performance within that poor gameplan.

    Round 12

Thurman is circling right and holding up a high guard. Lunging left hook by Zaveck, catching Thurman at the tug of the braid. Barking 1-2 by Thurman moving inside. Clinch. Break and Zaveck is warned to not grab Thurman by the head. They trade straight power shots. Jab by Thurman stepping around. Leaping left hook by Thurman dodged. Clinch. Zaveck throws uppercuts on the break. Wild overhand right by Zaveck, ducked and weaved by Thurman. Left hook just misses for Zaveck. Clinch. Thurman smothers a Zaveck uppercut. Right hand by Zaveck.

    10-9 Zaveck

    116-112 Thurman

I'm really impressed by Thurman, even though like everyone I wanted a KO.

His balance & footwork is vastly improved, and he showed excellent patience. He actually reminded me a lot of Whitaker tonight.

Great performance by Thurman. Zaveck is no slouch.

118-110 perfect peformance by Thurman, didnt gas showed everything he could do, Zaveck has an iron chin and a good block, alot of 147 would get put to sleep by Thurman

He has thudding power but not really sharp K.O power

He actually hurt Zaveck on a couple of occasions, so he's got some pop. More a case of Jan having an iron chin than Thurman lacking power, methinks.

    Lederman goes over the judges.

Waleska Roldan had Judah over Matthysse, but redeemed herself with Burgos beating Martinez.
