Truth cannot be too often repeated.

    Agreed.

Thats alright, the Welsh dragon's win over Hopkins cannot be too often revealed in this forum. Hopkins is an amazing fighter and proved it tonight.

I'd agree that Hopkin's ATG ranking > Joe's but I'd say JC beats Hop 8/10 fights.

    Agreed.

The criticism is that Joe Calzaghe fought a washed up Hopkins who had nothing left. That argument has now been destroyed many times. Also people claim Hopkins slowed down against Joe because of his age. They refuse to give Calzaghe credit for his work rate, determination and relentless pressure.

wow. this is one gay ass thread. definitely a great win when u get dropped by a forty+ year old and get a SPLIT DECISION and then run from a rematch even when he's willing to fight in your hometown. yup. joe's best win for sure, but considering his resume that doesn't say much since the win was on paper only

Joe will go down as one of the most fiercest men who feasted on euro bums.

Add to that Hopkins age and the fact that Calzaghe had actual skills.
You dont go slapping against top contenders and come out vitorious every time.

In Britain, officials wouldn`t fall for Hopkins smartarse tactics,if he tried it he`d lose again for sure so no point in the rematch.Calzaghe was too fast anyway and Hopkins was doing whatever he could to get a breather which was that fake ****in i`m in agony act.And the 40+ age excuse doesn`t really mean anything,he still competed well enough.

Here we go; the class Calzaghe "didnt" win bull****.

Hopkins knocked Joe down, won maybe 1 or 2 more rounds, and proceeded to get outworked and outboxed for the remained of the fight. Calzghe won that fight 115-112.

I like Hopkins, but all these nuthuggers need to realize you don't win fights by being severely outworked. Those rounds were close and you give it to the guy who throws/lands more, no the guy who throws 20 punches and lands 4.

Look at the polls on here jesus.

TBF, considering how Calzaghe had a considerable style advantage over that version of Hopkins with his workrate, I expected Calzaghe to do better than he actually did. I came away from the fight with a lower opinion of Calzaghe and a higher opinion of Hopkins, despite the results.

Prime for Prime, I favour Hopkins over Calzaghe, as Calzaghe won't be the beneficiary of a younger Hopkin's lungs wearing out. And in ATG standings, I have Hopkins significantly higher. I don't believe in giving piggyback credit to fighters.

Excuse me, he won 2-3 more rounds. I've watched that fight twice, somehow, it was terrible.

You can have whatever opinion you want but Hopkins lost that damn fight. Every poll on here, most experts. Sure Froch and Tyson and some other guys though Hopkins won, woohoo. He didn't. He lost to a whiteboy he called out and looked foolish.

People don't give Calz the credit he deserves.
