Somebody needs to answer this one question -

why?

 

at welterweight is the most money (pac/marquez/mayweather) and broner wants to be in the welterweight division, but firstly get a light punching oppoenent (to see what it is like to fight a welterweight) and not a tall strong dude like jessie vargas, thats why paulie.

Weakest....but most technically sound and stylistic nightmare than the rest of the champions. He isn't the hardest hitter so yea...it was a smart move on that front....but still...Paulie is his biggest and best opponent who lives 2 weight classes NORTH of where he is.

Where is the 140 division going?:huh You act as if he will never be able to go down if his test at 147 doesn't go the way he hopes....and that is a very real possibility. 147 is where bigger opposition and bigger money awaits this kid. He's hoping to cash in......believing his skills will pay the bills. Which they might....but it's a whole other ballgame when we talk about how his body will react to the change in weight.

Young promising fighter who everyone is hyping the hell out of just skips one of the best divisions in boxing to fight a guy renowned for his lack of power who has been beaten several times already.

Paulie's never been an easy assignment for anyone....He's consistently proven to have the kind of skill that would see him become world champion multiple times. Paulie also has the experience against boxings best. If you think Broner has a cake walk fighting Paulie at 147 you are on some really potent **** and I want some.:smoke

It's HBO. They're investing a lot in him and trying to build him into their next star so they're not going to put him into real challenges, risk losing that 0 and taking the gloss of him before he's made it.

You acting as if this has never happened before. Besides Broner is 5'7 with wide shoulders. He probably comes into fight weighing about 150 and better.He would probably be heavier then the "champ" himself. But coming from a Broner fan, your thought process is mid boggling.

I'm surprised they'd risk broner like this 2 divisions above his weight. I'd still rather see him face burns, Vasquez and abril though. But I guess this puts him right into the mayweather sweepstakes.

 

yeah but the thing is sooner or later if HBO wants him to be a super star, they have to let him face a big puncher name. like canelo when he fought kermit cintron. fans wanna see big fights, big fights against quality opponents makes super stars. floyd without de la hoya/gatti and coralles fight would be flipping burger in burger king but not be a millionere in boxing broner needs sooner or later to face a big puncher like matt or berto.
