As for Trout, you might be concerned for him. He doesn't have a huge head or a huge neck. He might have some problems when he gets hit.

 

head size, neck strength, and anatomical characteristics of a fighters chin will contribute to create legendary punch resistance when you get the right characteristics there. In regards to the chin type, long chins are disastrous for the whiplash force taken to the head because it increases torque production about the axis of the head/neck joint. A perfect example of this is Gamboa, who has a strong ass neck, has a decent sized head, but his chin is extremely long. Torque = Force x Moment Arm (distance of tip of chin, to the axis of the neck/head joint)... When Gamboa gets hit by any given force, it gets multiplied against a large moment arm value, which creates very large Torque forces about his head, and this ultimately contibutes to all of his flash knockdowns and moments of damaged equilibrium.

You can take some of the best chins ever, Hagler, James Toney, Mayorga etc, they had strong necks, with wide/stubby/short in length chin anatomy. When fighters hit these guys, they only had to tuck their chin and it would significantly reduce the moment arm value, which would decrease the value of torque about their head, so the torque generation would be small - torque is the force that knocks fighters the heck out.

On the flip side, another example of a fighter that gets hurt a lot, is Khan. His chin type, head size, and neck strength, are all bad for boxing. Long chin, thin head, and not a very strong neck. The torque generation that he gets from punches is immense, and his brain (and no brain for that matter) could handle it. Had Danny Garcia's left hook had been landed on the tip of Khan's chin, Khan would have been taken straight to the hospital on a stretcher.

watch the cintron fight when canelo is busting him, cintron launches a huge ass right that I thought had canelo hurt but it was all good. It's like it made the old cintron come back getting cornered by a lion.

also watch the mosely fight there is a huge ass over hand right that Mosely is known for that a lot of people have talked about mosely landing on canelo, and canelo just walking right trough unfazed like if he got hit by nothing.
