I personally dont watch it nor will I in the future yet is it trying to appeal to a demographic that just is not interested in MMA in general, how many of you know chicks who actually have a remote interest in any kind of combat sports Yes its here to stay but will it be in a few years time. Why is Dana trying to garner interest when it hasnt worked with Boxing or womens basketball, cycling or the majority of female sports. Ok it has worked for Tennis Im not bashing women in MMA, they can fight and do whatever the **** they want. This is Dana in a few years time :huh
I don't like it and never will...... But i don't like womens boxing or rugby or any other male dominating sports that women play as well. Women's tennis i'll watch along with athletics
The point? Women have rights and have been steadily gaining them over the past hundred years. The purpose of Women's MMA in The UFC goes beyond trying to bring in new viewers... Trust me, if somebody you can relate to is doing something special you will watch. It's why African Americans rallied around Obama and Mexican Americans come out in full force to see Cain Velasquez at pressers. I have no doubts that some of the girlfriends and wives watching MMA with there husbands will be look forward to Ronda Rousey and the like. Personally, I love the Sport as a whole. Top to bottom, HWs to Flyweights, and women too. When it comes to women, or any competitor for that matter, I find pleasure in watching that person realize their goals, their dreams. Comments like women belong in the kitchen are outright sexist.
Reports say UFC 157 did monster numbers and Ronda Rousey is being offered movie roles Id say someones interested in it
'cause I love too watch some hotties beating the **** out of each other. And I think that in MMA they will be very very exciting to watch in the future !
MMA has zippo to do with womens rights. How does women in UFC go beyond bringing in new viewers ? Youve lost me there with the comparison to Obama...The public in Australia sometimes rallies behind boxers and some even believe Danny Green is a world champ, doesnt change the fact that once the fight is over Boxing crawls back into its dark corner. Media hype is temporary there has to be true interest in the sport for it to survive hence why WMMA will ultimately be dropped. What separates WMMA from all the other sports that women compete in ? So why hasnt that worked in other sports, why not watch Netball ? If Dana is betting on the fact that young lads who have the internet at hand and can access all kinds of porn are going to get turned on by women who arent that great looking smacking each other out then he needs to have a serious think about his WMMA business model.. Was that because of Ronda or Hendo vs Machida ?

Someone mentioned over 400,000 ppv buys, their is definitely an interest in Women's MMA. Check the buy rates why don't you. You never saw African Americans in droves at rallies and the booths until one was running for President. Combat, and a loud mouth, undefeated, Olympian and Champ in Ronda Rousey, along with a number of Challengers. Name a time before now when Women headlining a fight card generated a 450-500k ppv buyrate? That card out sold a "super fight" in Aldo v Edgar which was on Super Bowl weekend....
You tell me, but the numbers don't lie. The Women's debut in The UFC was a success. No way around it. Hendo v Machida didn't live up to the hype anyway. In the Main Event, buyers got what they were expecting which was a 1st round armbar.
I don't see why anyone would be actively against WMMA, women's boxing, or any female sport. If they want to do it, why not? If you don't want to watch it, you don't have to. I'm pretty live and let live on this subject.
Lets not go off one card..... I'll be interested in seeing PPV numbers for the 5th 6th and 7th fight card that have womens matches headlining the card.
Well still for me, women are much more physically sensitive. They have monthly periods and do get pregnant, and their boobs are prone to cancer if it gets hit. (knees and punch) Men has much more allowance in taking a fight.
