What is you're opinion about all these ex allegedly fighters signing with matchroom?

Cant sign everyone with the current amount of dates, so I'm hoping it forces Sky's hand so we get more boxing on Sky.

or just get all cards stacked and no more prizefighters. also opens up the opportunity for more fights in the USA for Matchroom fighters.

My opinion is a mix of the first 3, although I don't think Hearn is corrupt. It's not good to have all the british fighters signed with Hearn, but where else can they go? Hearn is seen as a superstar by default more than anything. He is the only one doing a good job in an environment where everyone else is doing a **** one.

 

Cant see them ditching Prizefighter. I'd like them too though.

 

i don't want them to ditch it. just move it to weeknights so it doesn't take away real events.

 

They only have a certain number of dates, regardless of what day of the week

 

What If the best british fighters were all fighting each other, on stacked shows, regularly, why wouldnt it be good?

If a superstar emerges, they can sign for a US promoter or whatever.

The British scene could thrive.
Would also eliminate ref/promoter bias which lets be honest, does exist.

the ideal situation is to have two big promoters that have a good working relationship. one big promoter is not good but its better than none.

 

Providing that Eddie keeps to his word that he's not scared of having his own fighters face each other, than it's better in that sense; making it more likely for British stars to fight each other. It can get complicated when two British fighters are promoted by two different promoters, with different broadcast contracts...etc.

I think at the moment, Hearn is delivering the best for his fighters, so for any British fighter, at the moment, I'd want to them to be with Hearn. Of course, the stumbling block is the amount of TV dates.

That's not to say other promoters aren't getting their fighters good matches. Hennessy isn't doing a bad job with his fighters; Maloney was doing OK with Price. And FWP have got Chisora some good matches, Burns some good matches, not to mention others. It's just a shame that Hearn is apparently the only one who is paying them correctly.

3 of the 4 biggest names in Fury, Khan & Haye are still not with him. thats worth bearing in mind.

 

I don't blame them at all. Of course Matchroom shouldn't be allowed to have all the best fighters but the way FW treats his it's no surprise they all want out.

Blokes like Burns and Groves over the past year or so must have looked at Matchroom's fighters and thought "Look at that lot. They get all the big fights and attention whilst I'm stuck over here fighting once every six months and then having to wait another six months for my purse money. **** this, I want to go over there."

It's just a shame Hatton and Maloney are in such bad nick themselves, be good to see them sign a few fighters instead of letting Matchroom take their pick. Hennessy has a sweet channel 5 deal, I'm surprised he doesn't make a move for someone.

 

In an ideal world yes, but in reality that just ain't gonna happen.

Defeats are just too risky for either promoter, especially when you're fighting for market share.
