He also telegraphed that jab by pulling it back/loading up on it, before throwing it. Pac is on a different level than Ortiz. I concede that. But Mayweather does this to all his opponents. He defends against their attack, counters when there are good openings and inflicts pain. His opponent reduces their punch volume because they have no answer to the counters and no success with the attacks. Wash, rinse repeat. The fighters who have done better against Floyd (Castillo, Oscar and Cotto) have done so because his power doesn't hurt them, reduce their punch output as much. But they still don't win rounds.

Why would Pac be any different. He isn't deceptive, just fast powerful and has unreal stamina. He's an in and out whirlwind of punches. But the fact is, unless he can KO Floyd with one of the first 5 shots he connects with he would be systematically destroyed until he couldn't make a 10 count or got a mercy TKO. And why would anyone think he could hit Floyd with a one punch KO when fighters with inferior defenses have gone the distance with Pac. Floyd's counters are more damaging than JMM and while Floyd may or may not sit down and commit to a single punch or set of combos like JMM did, he would kill Pac with accumulation at any point in their respective careers.

    There's 3 questions I have.

    1. What is the meaning of life?
    2. When will B-hop age like the rest of us mortals.
And 3. When was Pacquiao's prime. He's so damn inconsistent I just don't know which means he was probably on something. His skills didn't improve much and all that was a real improvement was strength and conditioning bottom line.

All I can say it Pacquiao at that point has displayed speed and awesome variety in his punches.

Floyd is a defensive wizard, but Pacquiao's speed and mix-up will definitely allow him to land at least a couple every time he fires a combination.

And with his power, it's possible that he'll be able to damage Floyd heavily and will have a big effect towards the later half of the fight.

Think of Pac-Morales 2, Pac was having problems early, but eventually took over when his immense pressure caved Morales in.

    Pac by 115-133 decision.

I agree with you here. Pacquiao KO's Gatti in less than 3. At the same time Gatti would have taken less overall punishment and Pac would have tasted more leather in the 2-3 rounds than Floyd did in 6. Which is the better performance? Idk. Hearns would've KO'd him in 1 at 147.

There probably aren't any fighters Floyd faced that were better from an ATG standpoint than prime Pac at the time Floyd faced them. That said the Pac fight would be easier for Floyd than his fights with Castillo (both), Oscar, Cotto and probably Zab.

Mayweather from the JMM fight beats Pac from the Cotto fight. Each fighter was at their best and this fight should have been made for March of 2010.

That same delahoya zombie had Floyd looking like a deer in the headlights a year earlier. And from what I recall Oldsley had Floyd just about doing the chicken dance...

Don't minimize JMM's success. He started reading everything Pac was doing by round 3 of their first fight. By every account that I know of he won more rounds in the first fight than PAC and if not for a 10-6 first, would've won the fight on all cards. If JMM can read PAC by round 3 of their first fight, Floyd can too and earlier, period.

I'm seeing a lot. He does use feints, the same half dozen every time. Watch the overhead of the KO, JMM doesn't even flinch when Manny does his hesitation feint. He moves into perfect position, slips the BS jab manny throws (or maybe Pac was trying to land that elbow) and lands a punch about 4 inches from perfection without looking. Morales also knew exactly what Pac was doing from round 1 of their fight. He's not deceptive, he has a single game plan based on overpowering his opponent and he does not vary from it no matter what.

He beats the **** out of Margo because he's way faster and Margo can't get out of the way to save his life. He was faster and more powerful than the Oscar and Mosely he fought. There was no deception, raw physical power, speed and stamina. That's what wins him fights. That's why JMM, a skilled boxer who can use skill to counter Pac's physical attributes has success.

Because he's not good at it. He should throw feints and set up shots, but the feints have to fool his opponent or they have no value.

Why. Pac will not KO floyd hitting him on the shoulders and arms.

Two things here: Floyd varies his plan according to his opponents and secondly Floyd has never been in danger in his career on the ropes. I don't care what the comentator says, I don't care that anyone is excited. Floyd loves the ropes and is masterful on them.

Why are combos automatically better than pot shots? Someone explain. Would you choose to:

    A. Land a combo of three punches and get hit with one back, or
    B. Land single shots and never get hit back?

Maybe if you choose A the fight is shorter, but if you choose B you take no damage. Maybe you would choose A and that would be your style. If I could pull off what Floyd does, I'd choose B and never get hit either.

Floyd's single punching conserves energy, maintains his defense and is enough to hurt his opponent. He will not punch himself out and is rarely winded in fights. Getting back to Morales, he let Pac come forward and moved backwards (in a straight line) and after Pac blew his load, he gave him a taste of his own medicine and rushed him. Pac is retreating, winded and has fighter right on top of him. Probably not the best of situations for him. So are combos always better than pot shots?

You don't have to be willing to take risks if you can land damaging shots without getting hit back. That's what Floyd does. You said it yourself that Floyd will be able to land his shots. I'll also go back to the fact that numerous fighters that are far inferior defensively have gone 12 rounds and or beaten Pacquiao. But we should now believe that Pac is going to KO possibly the best defensive figher like he did to Hatton. That's nonsense and it's actually Pac's best shot at winning. So his best shot is nonsense.

Nah, at least not nearly as badly. Pacquiao's lead toe is always pointing at his target. Whenever he throws, he tries to step rightward to get his lead foot on the outside. Ortiz was throwing at Floyd's shoulder completely from the get go. Tried to find the right GIF but I don't have it at the moment. Poor game-plan, especially for a southpaw.

Beating Cotto at 145= worthless, if Mayweather made Canelo fight at 145 people would kill him.
