I believe he took a dive. As far as him being a worthy opponent for a world title defence, if he'd made the effort to get in shape for the fight and showed up to fight instead of intending to take a dive, I think it would have been a good fight, given Briggs' pedigree for never giving up and fighting tooth & nail.
the 3 judges weren't friends or family by any chance? maybe they were given briggs vs adamek tapes to view by accident.
Mate that's fair enough, to be honest i'm not a Danny Green fan, but I have never bagged him about the Briggs fiasco....... I was happy the fight got made but it's clear Briggs had other motives going into that fight and Green wasn't fully aware how bad a shape he was mentally and physically. I think at the weigh in the **** hit the fan and Green knew something was up, probably should've canned the fight there and then although that's easy to say now..... Green was promoting the fight so i guess he would've been out of pocket had he cancelled.
Definite war. Id pick green to win myself with both guys hitting the deck, but briggs wasn't as good at closing the show as green imo, if green got briggs in trouble he would put him out of there straight away, whereas i think briggsy would let green off the hook a bit. Interestingly briggs has been noted as saying that green had the best left hook he has ever fought against. It is sad that this situation ever occurred as it seemed these guys genuinely respected and liked each other, which it is safe to say is no longer the case.
NSW boxing wanted the tune up fight & would not sanction it otherwise, Green cracked it and made a heap of threats about it only to take it to WA and have it rubber stamped. @Kel, Green camp knew Briggs was done, they reviewed footage that was leaked on the internet by Zelky of Briggs sparring Mitrevski JNR and not doing so well, the footage was that bad they talked about how they could have it removed from youtube. Yet the fight still went ahead. What Green did was criminal but what Briggs did was also Criminal. I dont know what these ****** judges were thinking. I guess they never took into account the betting plunge that took place and the fact that most of it come from members of a lebanese gang called the sword boys, of which had one of their members training at Billy Husseins gym.
Briggs claim to fame in his prime is bein bashed up by Adamek twice who is now the laughing stock of wanna be heavyweights, i dont give a **** about green but he would of pumped Briggs in prime, faster, and could throw more than a one two combo now and again.
this.. unless briggs somehow plods in and lands a cannonball green would be way too sharp for him. it would be a heated and gruelling fight but a wide UD for green...
briggs still touger than green would of ko'd green in prime.. with good management prob could of got more titles and more money if he took the danny green path
