Hunt turned down JDS fight (Rumour)

Okay, so you were talking **** and then got owned by the fight announcement within a couple of days. Then instead of simply being happy or saying "Hey I was wrong, Dana made the fight I wanted, awesome", it turns out that in fact Haggis is somehow the *******.

Ah, so when it's a nondeserving guy who YOU like, it's cool that they get a title shot without earning it. And if the obese .500 fighter doesn't get a shot at the champion based off of beating Kongo, then **** Dana, ***** ***** *****.

But when it's someone with a huge fan following that you don't particularly like who gets an undeserved title shot, then **** Dana, **** Zuffa, what bull****, etc etc. That about right? :blood

What context? That you were just bitching from out in the cold, just talking **** with no knowledge at all of what was going on behind the scenes or what the key players were saying in negotiations? Is that the context? :blood

If he wants a title, he needs to learn to fight smarter.

He's headlined two free-TV cards his last two fights. He's a popular, charismatic guy who the fans enjoy and who the UFC knows they can rely on for an exciting fight. He's marketable, memorable and is still pre-prime. Which heavyweights with any kind of name are younger than Struve? He's doing fine. If he never improves and never learns to fight smarter, he'll still make good money and have a good career. When you say "What's the point?" what does that even mean? :conf

At the top of the last page you say Dana White should be hung... On the day the fight was announced, you were outta line bro. That's all we're saying, and putting a bullet to his name like you did on the 1st page is fanboyism at the extreme. I don't mean to disagree with you on a weekly basis, but that's just the way it is.

 

He should at least have the balls to say "You know what, I was wrong. I talked a bunch of **** and then got owned within a matter of hours. Turned out I had no clue at all what was going on behind the scenes, and now the guy I was talking heaps of **** on has actually given me the exact fight I was calling for, so I guess I should shut the **** up."

It's a sad state of affairs when an anonymous internet poster can't even man up and admit to a handful of anonymous usernames that he was mistaken about something completely trivial. :-(

Nah the context is that DW tweeted that Hunt turned down the fight and I thought it was bull****, that he was lying.

Then Hunt tweeted that he never turned down the fight and after that DW said they had a big talk.

That the context.

I put more trust in the word of Hunt then DW, so if Hunt says he never turned down the fight, that means DW is lying.

Why is that so hard for you to understand ?

It means that are they going to throw 3 or 4 prospect at him again, and then he fights a gatekeeper to get KOed again to again fight 3 to 4 propspect to gain finally give him a gatekeeper to get KOed again etc.. what's the point ?

I just think they should put him against quality opposition sooner. The guys has been KOed 3 or 4 time already can't remember. If he can't keep in mind to fight smart and keep his hand up at this point I don't think he will ever learn.

The only way Struve gets a Title Fight in any arena is by climbing the ladder...

The point is that Struve had been punched out by JDS, Roy Nelson, and Travis Browne... He's getting beat by guys and falling further and further down the ladder. Fact is he was put in with quality opposition already (JDS and Roy Nelson proved their worth) and he lost.

Neither one of us has nothing to do tonight so we are going back and forth with each other. The difference between us and Haggis is that he will break down an argument quote by quote. I will sometimes too, but maybe not as good at reading between the lines. I'm not nut swinging, but if anyone thinks so then I'm fine with that.

That's fine, but at least come out and say it. Just say "There are certain guys who I want to see get undeserved opportunities, and other guys I'll talk all kinds of **** when they land big fights that they haven't earned." :good

Who knows? None of us know, we're on the outside.

Maybe there was a problem that got resolved. Maybe there was a miscommunication. Who knows? I don't. But you think you know, because in any situation you'll always just think the worst of Dana, and assume that to be the truth. :-(

He's had lifts in competition and he generally loses when he steps up. He's a guy they want to keep around for the next several years, and so of course they try to build him up again when he loses. They want him to put nice win streaks together to build his confidence and prepare him for steps up in competition. He's a good employee for them. Charismatic, articulate, always in exciting fights, helps bring in Dutch/European viewers, a memorable physical appearance, and seems like a good guy. Why wouldn't you try to build up a 25 year old fighter like that?

I have to step in to make a point here. The rally for Hunt to fight JDS for the title happened when Overeem was injured when he was scheduled to fight JDS last year. Hunt would be coming in as a replacement. The event was not originally scheduled with Hunt as the opponent. Hunt was riding a 3 fight win streak, and was an intriguing style match-up. It would have only been bull**** if Hunt had been Dos Santos' scheduled opponent from the beginning.

Similar to another example from last year. Dan Henderson was supposed to fight Jon Jones, but was injured. Sonnen stepped up, and accepted the fight as a replacement. No problems with that. Sonnen was not the original opponent. He was a big name trying to salvage the event. Sonnen getting the title shot as a legitimate challenger is a joke.

 

You can make the choice to think that DW did that all alone, or you can make the choice to believe that everything you just noted would have happened anyway because it was bound to happen cause MMA is a legit sport.

You choose A I choose B...case closed.

DW is a ****in ****, anybody that would have been in his place would have done the exact same thing, he is nothing special.
