Assuming that Ward didnt beat Hopkins convincingly witch is seriously not out of the question. Ward is very good lets be fair. He is FAST, SKILLED, SLICK and STRONG. As well he can fight smart witch against Hopkins would present a HUGE problem for Bhop. Being so physically skilled/gifted Ward can fight SMARTER than Most. Against Hopkins i have no doubt he would do just that as Ward has good ring smarts. Both dont rattle easy when being attacked, they get more into the fight and both have that ring smarts of focusing on WINNING when in a tough fight rather than focusing on simply controlling their FEAR of LOOSING. Many fighters when loosing will naturally LET IT GO. Thus they just say to themselves, "**** it, bring it on" and then they go for it. These type of fighters have always been great entertainment value, for at the point they choose to go for it they have made a conscious choice that if they dont they will LOOSE. Thus they choose to start taking greater chances to CHANGE what they FEAR. Bhop, has the skills to make these type of fighters look very bad often taking them to peices over time. When a fighter has to make a conscious choice to just go for it and take chances to change the fight they also make a unwitting conscious choice to allow themselves to start getting tagged with BIGGER SHOTs.

Why i see Ward and Hopkins playing out so differently than lets say Hopkins and Froch is i dont see Ward needing to "GO FOR IT" against Hopkins. Thus i see Ward either winning a solid and convincing UD or taking the old guy out late as lets not forget if Ward has the SPEED to mess up Hopkins great timing over the course of 12 rounds its not out of the question that Ward hurts Hopkins and once hurt rather than go hog wild trying to finish the old guy Ward simply goes to work waiting to keep hurting him each and every round little by little piling up a UD and possibly while doing it ends up beating the crap out of Hopkins.

Now obviously Ward and Hopkins are not going to fight each other, i just dont buy the point that if they did it would be a LOOSE/LOOSE situation for Ward. If Ward beat Hopkins in convincing fashion, even if the fight were somewhat boring, it would go down as Ward beating a old drained out shell of a former great at the TIME and overtime that would mostly be forgotten while the victory would not.

Thus Bhop dont got time for dat.

However, if i was Bhop, i would sure have time for Froch.

Styles make fights and nobody knows that better than B-Hop.
There's a reason why he can still beat guys like Cloud or Pascal, but loses to Chad Dawson.

I can see B-Hop taking Froch to school, but I don't see him doing his thing against Andre Ward.

Mad respect for the old man though.

hopkins struggles against quick slick fighters e.g. taylor but does really well against come forward pressure fighters eg pavlik

didnt hopkins just decisively lose to dawson?

that being said, hopkins/froch would be a great fight and do incredible numbers outside the US.

I wonder how many of the posters here defending Ward for not fighting Hopkins/Dirrell/etc would do the same in a thread criticising the Klitschkos for choosing not to fight each other. Very few I would surmise. Brothers choosing not to fight each other = not OK. "Brothers" doing the same thing = OK.

A Froch fight has intrigue and is much easier to market. In fact, it is probably the only possible B-Hop fight that would get me to stay at home on a Saturday night.

Number 1, who is seriously saying the Klits need to fight eachother? I have yet to see that. Number 2, Ward was scheduled to fight Dirrell and Dirrell dropped out of the fight.

Hopkins knows that ward's style is not good for him to win. Hopkins will only fight fighters that isnt a slick one. <<<Why else he avoided dawson for years but finally had no choice in which dawson beat him easy?

some one said that Ward-Hopkins was "friends" and " a mentor" ....Carl Froch and Mikkel Kessler are friends, but they are also top proffessionel Prizefighters,so ofc. they will fight eachother!!! I have a lot of respect for Hopkins achivements and legacy,it is truely an amazing trackrecord Hopkins has.And i have nothing against ward...But if they have that "agreement" i find it ridicoulous.

So many worried posters on this thread.

People seem terrified that Hopkins could beat Ward, that they wouldnt want to see that fight happen. They are not worried about seeing Hopkins lose because they could use the age as an excuse, but they seem terrified about Ward losing, as it would show how weak the era is if Hopkins wins.

Seeing how Ward was taken to a close decision by Froch and troubled and how Ward was troubled by Bika, with him fading in both those fights, which didnt look the most active of battles, I wouldnt be shocked if it became a close fight against Hopkins and Hopkins would look to why Ward didnt seem to want to face Bute.

Just imagine if friends Froch and Kessler said they wouldnt face each other or imagine the fans if Mayweather and Pacquiao had said they would never face each other when that fight was talked about (never did happen, but just imagine the reaction if they said they wouldnt face each other). Yet worried people say Hopkins and Ward are friends

He can dictate whatever terms he wants at this point, to other boxers & us.

Nobody can knock him for refusing to face a younger version of himself, while "settling" for opponents in the top 3 of a virtually brand new division. (Hopkins hasn't competed at super middle since the early nineties)

He chose not top go near that division a few years ago, but now its a weaker division...
There was talk of Hopkins once fighting Mitchell for his WBA SMW title. I seem to think Ottkes team were wanting to face him and we know he backed out against Calzaghe.
I would favour Hopkins against Froch, but it could be close with Ward, and if Hopkins wants to be active at SMW he should go for the top man
