    Foot positioning but not footwork.

a few years ago it was Floyd. And in the past Roy Jones. The best I ever saw was probably Sugar Ray Leonard against Duran.

Hopkins is all around a tactician, although against Dawson he didn't look as great since Dawson matched him well and was quick. Cloud is not great. Good win, but not a great win. Hopkins has kept himself in good shape. With Tito, Hopkins was the bigger stronger man and yet he fought smarter.

Holy **** you are a nutcase.

Running from a sluggish pressure-fighter and clowning negatively is not brilliant footwork.

He mentioned Jones I thought maybe he was talking about footspeed.

This is about Duran again Bogotazo and not about Ray having great footspeed? Duran was not the variable, even Ray uses his footspeed Duran would never beat Ray as he never did again, and even Benitez outboxed Duran easily? I brought up Leonard as having great footwork and didn't even mention Duran much. That was a showcase of Leonard, and again Duran not coming in shape is just an excuse. So he was sluggish or he was an overweight lightweight? Which one is the excuse? Bottomline is Leonard outboxed him and showed great footspeed and skill and won easily, in the second and third fight.

Hopkins has tremendous footwork. His success against Cloud had everything to do with footwork. When trapped in a corner, most fighters would stay stationary or try to exit one side. Hopkins bounces from the left side of the ropes, to right, backwards, or forwards. Eventually his opponent has to commit and Hopkins knew exactly how to escape any time he did. He walked Cloud into shots, kept just out of range of those winging left hooks, came forward throwing combinations and then circled out, etc. He stepped with every punch and controlled the fight on the ground.

He dominated Pascal with his footwork and controlled the ring incredibly efficiently against Cloud.

I don't think you can claim Mayweather has better footwork when he gets rushed and cornered so often. It's great and one of the best in the game, his side-steps set up his counters well and aid his defensive guard gracefully, but he doesn't command the center of a ring, or even the perimeters, like Hopkins does.

I don't care to read you typing the same **** about New Orleans, Leonard's footwork was not calculated, nor was it efficient, nor was it purposefully setting up shots. If that's the best footwork you've ever seen you're either blind, a casual fan, or a nutcase.

overall skill has to do with footspeed, but I would never put Bernard in the class of great footspeed. It is footpositioning. Leonard against Hagler.

Hopkins is great no doubt, but his footwork is not as dominant when a fighter has quicker hands like Calzaghe,Taylor and Dawson. Julio Cesar Chavez had some of the best footpositioning I ever saw for his offense. Pernell Whitaker. Most top fighters have exceptional footwork. Marvin Hagler.

I am a nutcase then. Ray used his legs to fend off Duran and then counter with his speed. And in round 7 and 8 he was starting to set down with his punches and land on Duran. Even with Hearns, Ray's footwork and speed allowed him to get inside and land on the inside when Tommy got tired. I am surprised that someone would say I am a nutcase for saying Leonard has the best footwork I have seen. Ray used his skills and legs to beat 4 legends.

His footwork against Dawson AND Calzaghe was excellent.
