Hopkins brags about being one of the dirtiest fighters in the game, counters with headbutts --- Crafty!

Wlad holds after being hit with a shot --- Disgraceful!

Hopkins is horrible to watch in and out of the ring. I'd rather watch Wlad-Ibragimov twice than Hopkins-Dawson once, and I'm a fan of Dawson.

Hopkins is a master of his craft with more dimensions, as proven by his success at his current age.

Watching Wlad peck out a cautious win is infuriating because he has all the physical advantages and should be crushing guys.

Watching Hopkins scratch out a decision is interesting because he has NO physical advantages and should be getting killed by everyone he fights.

Yes, he's great at holding, grabbing, clinching, wrestling, elbowing and consistently delivering one unwatchable awful snoozefest after another.

    Just like Wlad.

You wouldn't be watching Hopkins if he was from the Ukraine beating up guys from Egypt -- even if they were worldclass. But Hops is American and that somehow makes his otherwise awful and unwatchable fights 'interesting'.

Talk about hypocrisy and home bias.

To be honest as great as the 2 of them are, they're both ****ing boring as **** to watch - Wlad with his ***** jab-jab-jab-clinch-lean-jab-jab-jab-clinch style of fighting, and refusal to let his hands go (even with a washed up cruiserweight in ****ing Mormeck!), and KO his opponents early on in devastating fashion, despite the fact he is more than capable of doing so.

Then there's Hopkins - with his repeated clinching, headbuts, nut shots, and general repeated fouling, which is deemed "crafty" by his thick as hit nut-hugging fans. It's not, it's ****ing CHEATING.

I'd rather ram a rusty screwdriver into my left eye socket than watch another one of their so-called "fights".

The Martinez-Chavez Jr. fight, a fight with 2 NON-Americans (an Argentine and a Mexican) sold more PPV and generated a higher stream of gate revenue than every Ward, Dawson, Broner AND Hopkins fight combined over the past 8 years.

That alone renders the entirety of your argument invalid, sir.

American boxing fans consider Old man Hopkins fights more interesting, despite his at times, equally unaestetically pleasing style, because for one, the man's a legendary boxer and has had a legendary career. And is currently accomplishing things that haven't been done in the sport...really...EVER. It enhances the intrugue level of his fights.

A nearly a 50 year old ATG consistenly taking on top young prime fighters in his division and having success is just alot more interesting than watching Wlad jab some overmatched C-level tomato can to death, no matter how you try to spin it.

Well, at least Hopkins has a valid excuse as to why he fights in such a manner. The man is decrepit in boxing/athelete years. And as far as athletic capabilities & stamina, he's a shell of what he was in his prime days. When he was Wlad's age, the entertainment value of his fights were MUCH MUCH higher. He was the polar opposite stylistically to the B-Hop we say today. Don't get me wrong though, he was ALWAYS a dirty fighter, but an entertaining one.

Wlad on the other hand, is fighting extremely limited opposition, who he has just about every conceivable advantage over... size, strength, speed, punching power, reach etc. and STILL fights like a beyotch.

Give his awful style and boring fights, nobody in the US would give a rat's ass about Hopkins if he didn't have a US/Latino passport.

    Answer this simple question:

All else being equal... historical career, ATG status, age, accomplishments etc. etc.: If Hopkins was Ukrainian, living in Poland, fighting a Korean guy in Paris. Would American fans watch it? Hell no!

All the BS about Hopkins being "intriguing" and "interesting" goes right out of the window once take away the American passport. We're witnessing fan home bias at its finest.
