My memory is letting me down in my old age. I agree Vanzie got robbed, but I thought Earl deserved the win against Romanov.
I see where you're coming from, however I don't really care how difficult the fight might be to sell I just want to see a decent fight. Rees or even McCloskey would be more compelling from my point of view than this Puerto Rican or any other unbeaten unknown they might be able to draft in. As far as Burns being seen to be fighting Broners leftovers, I don't think that matters now. Broner has moved up to Welterweight, does anyone seriously think he will move back down to LW to fight Burns after Malignaggi with all the far more lucrative, high profile opportunites he will have at 140 and 147? I certainly don't, so Burns team need not worry.
Mitchell was his mando....and despite what you keep preaching the Vasquez fight did not exist. Burns run at lightweight has actually been quality, Katsidis, Moses and Mitchell were all top 15 ranked fighters. If you put potential opponents into a groups. A being the best, D being the least minimum acceptable, and E) being anything outside of these names not being good enough, this is what I would have. A) Adrian Broner (WBC). B) Richard Abril (WBA), Miguel Vasquez (IBF), Yuriorkis Gamboa. C) Marvin Quintero, Antonio DeMarco, Mercito Gesta, Daniel Estrada, Raymundo Beltran, Sharrif Bogere, Sergio Thompson, Miguel Beltran Jnr. D) Gavin Rees, Miguel Acosta, John Molina, Henry Lundy, Ji Hoon Kim, Ameth Diaz, Jorge Linares, Leonardo Zappavigna, Shafikov, Alisher Romanov, Emiliano Marsili, Darley Perez, Urbano Antilion, Joseph Gonzalez. One thing to consider is that its not all about the record. Vasquez and Abril look great on paper and have belts but there are boring as ****. Burns vs Henry Lundy, Ji Hoon Kim, Jorge Linres, Leonardo Zappavigna would all be more exciting fights, even if there not as meaningful. But Hearn/Morrison/Burns should aim for the C group. If you goes thought those guys, the fighter thats avalible and coming of a win if Raymundo Beltran. His recod isn't great but he has found form and is coming of wins over Henry Lundy and Ji Hoon Kim. He is ranked top 10 by all the independent rankings; RING No.9 ESPN No.7 TGR No.9 ESB No.8 BoxRec No.7 Raymundo Beltran http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=19566&cat=boxer
I'd put Shafikov in C, and on the subject of Beltran, he's been unlucky with some decisions, including against Bogere who I thought he beat

I almost agree with you here but at least he will get to fights and will get paid. The Vasquez fight was never going to happen in March and I would have been suprised if it happened in April. Fighting Walsh would be a giant leap backwards. If Eddie puts him in with Harrison he is as bad as *****.
