Canelo is 23 and the biggest young star in boxing. Compare where Floyd was at 23: far ahead comp wise, far behind marketability wise. Imagine how big he's gonna be if he does something in boxing, starting with Trout. He doesn't need Floyd, esp if the guy is unwilling to fight. He'll call him out every time he's looking for a fight, Floyd will ignore him, and Canelo's rep grows bigger. Provided he's the real deal of course; we'll learn a lot soon.

 

How is canelo a star when he been simply an under card fighter?

But Floyd has history at 154, he's #1 currently in fact. So if he's looking for more of a challenge, it's there for him.

Also, Ortiz has no history of winning fights vs decent fighters. He's 1-3-1, with the only win coming at a catchweight he imposed.

 

While ortiz is a 147 guy he is hardly smaller
