Whether or not it was on the cards a fight with Vasquez is a good one,would be a real coup for Matchroom.Cant see that.As I said before,don't blame Burns handlers for not exactly chasing Broner,hell move up soon anyway.Gavin had areal go but that how does that qualify him for a 2nd shot,at another champion.In the same way I can't understand how Barker and Macklin deserve shots after losing to Martinez and not beating a live contender.Abril might be a potential banana skin and a stinker.Lets see if they take this mandatory,might be a good fighter if he's unbeaten,possible tough one.Harrison definitely doesn't deserve a shot.

Lets be realistic its not going to be Broner, Abril or Vasquez.

My pick is José A. Gonzalez, 22(17)-0, his promoters last week said José is ready to fight Burns as earlier as next month and they are hoping to secure a summer title challenge.

His resume is poor, however he is the WBO ranked no1 contender and I imagine Eddie Hearn will use this to sell the fight.

 

Just checked Gonzalez record.Hes 29,unbeaten,a lot of knockouts on his record.Knocked out Laryea in 3.If he's the mandatory can't see whats wrong with it.But probably not.

 

The thread relating to the Eddie Hearn article covers this and says it will be a 'solid opponent' with possibly Vasquez in Sept.Burns wants Broner but Eddie goes on about needing momentum...looks like burns won't get him ffs. Why not Vasquez on May 11th instead of sept!?

He had conversations with his managment where they said they were not fighting, and thats not the only evidence which suggests there was no fight. Vasquez said in an interview, Vasquez team said they only signed a contract 3 weeks ago and the documents Frank put on his website go along with that.
