Hughie fury better than Anthony Joshua

Well Hennesy will say that lol. I don't think Joshua will have great stamina though and he didn't deserve to win those Olympics.

Mick Hennessy in thinking his HW prospect is better than a non-Hennessy prospect shocker!

 

Don't see why he couldn't be better then Anthony. Joshua is a good raw fighter who seems hardworking and just a natural athlete.

But it's all if's with Anthony, We don't know how he will progress. Hughie's getting good quality work from his dad, cousin and Tyson's sparring partners which he's getting more of then he used to when he sparred Phil for McDermott.

 

Hennessy also said Fury-Pajkic reminded him of Hagler-Hearns. He's as honest as he is slim.

 

Hennessy also thinks its acceptable to hold a press conference at a table in a busy Harvester.

 

Dismissing the Olympic champion in order to promote your own young heavyweight, is not going to get you anywhere.

Hughie is an exciting prospect and turning pro, no need to bring Joshua in to it. People should be proud of Joshua and hope Hughie Fury is going to be a top pro. Time will tell.

 

Honestly don't know much about Hughie. I know he's won a load of amateur tournaments but that doesn't automatically mean you'll be a good professional. Seems a nice bloke though, has his head screwed on properly unlike his big cousin. Will keep an eye on him for sure. My concern though is has he turned pro too early? He's only 18.

 

Tyson turned pro around the same age IIRC.

Too many British boxers stay in the amateurs too long & end up having to make major adjustments when they do turn pro. Price & DeGale are perfect examples of pro boxers with amateur styles which have hampered their development.

I know what you mean though. I'd hope they take their time with him. 3 or 4 fights a year, send him off to spar all over UK/Europe and just pace him in general.

 

Heavyweight boxing's changed over the last few decades though, nearly all the top boxers in that decision are over 30. The only exception I can think of is Tyson Fury. I just hope they do indeed take their time with Hughie like everyone is suggesting. I read something the other day with him saying that him and Tyson want to rule the division together like the Klitschkos within 3-4 years. That would be too early IMO. Hughie should have a good few years to season himself up before going onto to be contender. Tyson sort of did the same.

 

I've seen that much talked about interview and that's not what he says. Doesn't mean a great deal either it is only sparring.
