He seems to be a distant memory which is a shame because I think it would have been a real test for Burns and a good fight
I certainly dont think Vasquez has been forgotten about.. In my mind, Eddie is rightly looking to make a bit of cash from his new signing Rickster before he throws him in at the deep end. So a scrap in Glasgow against a decent opponent in front of a big crowd before a defining fight. This is what I think Eddies plan will be. I just like to bring Scottys name up cos it winds up our Billy Nelson, but I think Demarco is in the pipeline. Thats my guess for Rickys next fight.
I'm really gutted for the lad because I honestly thought that he wanted it, he had it in the palm of his hand.....I just hope that he didn't jump ship too soon. DeMarco is OK but he isn't Vazquez, that was his big chance for a defining fight. It doesn't matter if or how Burns beats DeMarco now he will just be seen as Broners leftovers
The ball was rolling from the youtube interview. You think Jacobs was lieing or was Vasquez and his team lieing?
DeMarco like Rees are still good fighters but they will be seen as leftovers. Rightfully so. They should both get a win first.
Vazquez threw a strop, end of...eventually he was reminded by calmer heads of his contractual responsibility hence the sick note episode. Thats what I think happened. If a contract hadn't been agreed and signed why the performance with the doctors note? I don't think that Jacobs was lying, what would his motivation be?, I just think that it was **** poor journalism for which he has paid a price.
At least we agree on something :thumbsup It would have to be a good win given how their previous fights ended
Well it wasn't actually. He never wrote and article. He was having a convo with a friend on twitter who asked him what Vasquez and his team had to say about the fight. Thats why he was interviewing him. They told him there wasnt one. I think the contract was signed yes, but it wasnt when Jacobs spoke to them. Either way Frank breached the contract in the eyes off Burns/Morrison and they walked away. Whatever thay breach was (we all know!) its obviously a valid reason to not fight under Franks banner no matter what was on offer.
To be honest Icey, I cant believe the last half a year Ricky has had. He had a great win over Mitchell, then its just been a giant mess. Im a huge Ricky fan, was at the Martinez & Moses fights, but I have to be honest. Im gutted also, cos I think that Rickys 'missed the boat' somewhat. Im just hoping that Eddie Hearn will be the answer to Rickys problems, & to be honest, I think he will. I can see Vasquez happening this year, & Ricky beating him inside the distance. Hearn & SKY will enjoy rubbing Franks nose in it, & what better way than staging Burns Vasquez in Scotland! Vasquez cant attract a decent payday nowadays, so Hearn should have no problems snaring the mexican again. Broner though? He hung around waiting for Ricky, & eventually got bored waiting & appears to have jumped up. I was really disappointed with Rickys responce "he seemed to need me more than I need him" very poor. Nah, Broner wanted a defining fight at lightweight, & saw Burns as the man to beat & begged him for a fight. For Ricky to dismiss Broner like that annoyed me. In other words, I kinda agree about Ricky missing the boat, but if someone can arrive on a jetski, pick up Burns & throw him onto the boat hes just missed, its the James Bondish Eddie Hearn:deal
Regardless of whether he wrote an article or not he broadcast his thoughts to the world....he's apologised, that means something to me. Frank may have breached "a" contract, the exclusive promotional one between him and Burns, I don't know and neither do you really, that will be tested in court....But what about the specific contract made between ******, Vazquez and Burns regarding the fight on 16th March? Wheres the breach there? A breach of one contract probably doesn't invalidate another and that might be a stumbling block for Burns
I like your script Dunky, I really do, you are an optimist whereas I'm not really. Its not Hearn I worry about because I think that he'll try his best for Ricky, its Morrison. I think that he would be comfortable having his charge fight in Scotland for the rest of his career, being fed lower top 10 WBO ranked fighters and making a decent screw out of it. I haven't necessarily got a problem with that but Ricky might when he eventually retires, puts his feet up and has time to ponder his career. Broner?, Burns will regret not grabbing that opportunity with both hands
Has Vazquez offered his thoughts since Burns changed promoters? Has any of Ricky's people contacted him? There was obviously some kind of mutual arrangement between the two fighters, so I don't see why both parties aren't champing at the bit to get it back on.
