    1 - Hopkins
    2 - Mayweather
    3 - JMM

    imo

Ward belongs in the discussion as well though in terms of the smartest fighters today.

I was going to vote Hopkins and then I thought a guy with zero losses has to edge Hopkins, who regardless of anything could not beat Calzaghe,Taylor or Dawson. Hopkins is greater than Mayweather, but Floyd knows how to pick fighters to beat and he has beaten them all. How can Hopkins have a greater ring IQ? Beating Cloud does not makes him the best ring IQ.

Hopkins has more evperance to devlope his ring IQ. At 48 I would give him the advantage over Marquez 39, and Mayweather 36. However, based on an equal age of 35. The oldest age each fought at. I would rate both Mayweather's and Marquez's ring IQ higher than Hopkins.

Yeah Chavez Jr. really had the edge on Hopkins before he must have gotten hit on the head and lost all that IQ before losing to Martinez. And don't get me started on Thurman, makes Hopkins look like Mayorga in there.

Hopkins is a better tactician and carries a tactical plan out to a T

Floyd is a better on the fly tactician ad******g on the go taken away a fighters advantages.

JMM does studies tendecies and habits coupled with typical boxing knowledge.

I honestly think IQ wise they all are on or about the same level...they just execute differently and certainly approach fights differently.

I do not think they would disagree on much if they were dissecting a fight together.

Hopkins has said on many occasions that Floyd's ring IQ is as high as his

We may agree or not agree with him

Fighting and beating guys who are in their prime, when you are in your 40's, is based entirely off of ring IQ.

Each one of his losses came when he was 40 years old and older.

Ya we will see who Mayweathers IQ allows him to outbox when hes 40 years old, let alone 48.

Mayweather is better at adjuzting, which is the only thing I could see May getting the edge over Hopkins.

Mayweather can fight in whatever way (or at least he used to, not sure if he still could) he needs to, to beat whos in front of him (much like Ward does today)

If hes not having as much success from the outside, he will start to walk forward and put pressure, if he cant put pressure, he will pot shot from the outside. He can lay off the ropes or make you miss in the center. He has many ways to beat you.

A case can def be made for mayweather.

My problem isnt with someone putting May 1st, its for dumb reasons of Hopkins losing a fight here n there when hes 40+ years old.

Go by what you see in the fights, breaking down what they do when, and how, and how masterfully they are imploying their arsenal and how they figure out their opponents. Thats all you need to see.

At 40 years old, I dont care who you are, theres going to be fighters that you cant overcome if you continue to fight dangerous, top rated fighters, and champions.

I could easily imagine that Floyd would/will lose to much faster fighters when he's nearly 50 years old.

We'll see what he looks like in another 4 or so years at 40. BHop was 40. Just think about that. Until then it's pretty hard to judge on that standard alone.

Also, it has nothing to do with resume. We are talking purely about their ring intelligence. Floyd still has much greater physical gifts than BHop and nearly, if not as high or maybe even higher, a boxing IQ. I can't really decide. Honestly, they are both about even to me.

I think they are arguable though, but simply because BHop can't use his speed, power etc to win, he uses very savvy footwork, great feints, and beautiful inside fighting to win. Floyd does too, but he can rely on more to win. BHop can't.

Marquez is very savvy too, but he's offensively bent. His smartness lies in offense, and not as much defense. He has great footwork, much, much underlooked....People often talk about Pac's footwork as this thing of beauty and yet Marquez completely nullified with his own footwork. Footwork doesn't need to be fast or bouncy or look good, it has to be effective. He also has great feints, and he used to have good defense but that seems to have greatly diminished with age and his more offensive approach. He can now struggle to adjust defensively.

Hopkins and Marquez by far! Floyd is overrated. Hes a potshot ,hit and run, hit and hide artist. Hops and marquez are true technicians
