Nah, the world was not yet ready for another black champion. If Wills had won the title, the next black man to get a shot would have been Tim Witherspoon.

Well, McGrain said that Dempsey was out of the picture for "whatever reason". I choose to believe it's because he was eaten by a Kodiak bear.

Wills ducks Gibbons, but takes on Jack Renault in 1924 ,and loses his title by a surprisingly easy decision. An average two year reign that stops any talk of a Black Nemesis.

It would depend how long he stayed hungry for, I think after the Dempsey fight finally collapsed in '26 he may have gave up trying and that maybe part of the reason he lost to Sharkey. That alongside inactivity.

If his prime panned out the same way then Sharkey or Tunney around '26

There are also the question 'would the public pay to see 2 black men fight for the title'? If so Godfrey may have a shot

Wills gets Ko'ed by Rojas who loses to Gains. Gains, Godfrey and Walker have a series before Louis cleans it up, then we have Charles, Walcott, Valdez, Moore, Patterson, Liston etc with Rojas the last White champion before the Klits?

    Black revenge, Caucasians frozen out.
Probable cause the race riots and ritual sacrefice in Chile after Gains handed Rojas his ass.

Honestly I struggle greatly with unseen fighters in terms of confidently picking results.

So I'll take the easy way out and say he stays champ till Sharkey beats him up.

The likelihood is that he'd be made to draw the colour line as world champ so would be much less active. Brennan, Firpo then Sharkey.

I'm starting to be a bit more of a believer regarding the colour line and it's limitations. I mean if Johnson drew it, surely anyone would?

Greb beasts him in '22, and we have film. Klompton does biography on Jack Dillon instead. No one cares.

Depends. Does he meet Godfrey, who he avoided multiple times? I doubt it.

Maybe Sharkey, with Greb having an outside shot.

Why does nobody give Big Bill Tate a chance? He did win Wills' coloured title during this period.
