Nelson has the defences and the p4p achievements to nestle exactly where he is without fear of contradiction. There are some placements that are "stabs" based upon more intuitive decision making but he is not one of them. High teens for title fights, some excellent opposition and looks as good as most of these chaps on film, i can argue him above Oscar or below McCallum - which makes him snug in my book.

I like Nelson on the list. I think he's as worthy as many.

Fenech beat Samart Payakaroon and spanned four weights before he eventually lost.

Okay it was to Nelson but we've all seen the first fight. That effort from Jeff alone is enough to guarantee he be above Nelson, Floyd, Greb etc etc

Fenech of course beat two of Nelson's better scalps as well. Didn't need two attempts to do it convincingly either (as The Little Professor needed against Fenech, a pretty much physically shot Fenech at that)

Now I am actually toying with an argument :D

I don't even know who you are talking about. I do know that The Prof kicked **** out of Fenech?

Second time round yes. I know that Fenech was robbed against Nelson first time and despite having no hands (inside the gloves were two Beadle-esque mitts) he had Nelson all over the shop in the 12th (no one better come in here with that malaria nonsense)

    Villasana and Martinez, anyway.

Both of the Nelson-Fenech fights occurred in the same year.......are you saying then that Fenech fell THAT far in that span?

I dunno; to me, if one doesn't allow the malaria excuse for Nelson, then how are excuses allowed for Fenech in a rematch that occurred so soon after? And we hear PLENTY of excuses for Fenech, god knows.

I'm not making excuses for Fenech in the 2nd fight. I haven't said that once.

Yeah but more to downgrade Nelson. Not that I don't think he's great, or that I think Fenech is greater I just don't think he's that great, of course we've disagreed on a few things, no biggie but this is all clean fun isn't it?
