To be fair, his biggest win was Kessler. But outside of that one good win, his two best are clearly against a shot RJJ and a faded Hopkins.

No win against a 40 year old should ever be considered an ATG win, though.

That is where I disagree. Tarver was 37 years old and that is considered one of Hopkins best wins, maybe even his best.

To put a number limit is arbitrary as hell. Hopkins was coming off wins agains Tarver and Winky, lost to Calzaghe, then went on to beat Pavlik, RJJ (shot), Pascal, and Cloud.

He didn't lose until 4 years after his loss to Calzaghe. The fact that he was 43 or whatever isn't too relevant to me because he was still very good. Sure, he probably wasn't in his athletic prime, but you can easily argue that in his early 40's, he was in his prime in terms of his resume. Look at his wins against top competition.

We simply have a different standard for "ATG win." I reserve the term for truly elite victories and use it rarely. Never will I consider a win over a fighter significantly removed from his athletic prime as an ATG win.

To be fair, I wouldn't have rated a Hopkins victory in this fight either.

Fair enough. Agree to disagree which many people on here cannot comprehend. I do agree that this may not be an ATG win, I Was just pointing out the fact that I think one can make an argument that Hopkins was in his prime in terms of his reume.

Its amazing how hurt so many are that Calzaghe is the best SMW ever, beat American legends Hopkins and Jones, retired undefeated and even now the LHW division and the SMW division all lead back to him now years after retirement.

Why does it bug so many posters?

Hopkins and Jones both rank much higher on any credible ATG list.. Why does it bug you so much?

You need to accept that like the judges the majority felt Calzaghe won.

Not all the judges thought L Lewis beat Holyfield in their first fight and the judges were split.

Think you need to accept Hopkins LOST.

Joe doesnt need your help Failey.

The man should look at Hopkins and realise that HE too could come back

What is it with guys retiring, Joe wasnt and isnt done IMO

He could make an ATG record if he wanted to do so./

Would you not like that ?

Why was that the best Hopkins?
That was a fighter who turned pro as a CW beating a fighter who was a WW
    How is it better then?
Im not saying Tito isnt a great P4P fighter but at MW and above he isnt exactly known as a great.
When Hopkins fought Trinidad, Trinidad had only had one fight at MW, just ONE at MW.
Eubank had, had double figure amount of title fights in that division alone.
Kessler was a unified champ in the division his fight with Calzaghe was in.
It looks better beating established world champs in a division than a fighter who has only had one fight at the weight
What excuses? Why did Hopkins move up 2 divisions suddenly and then manage to clearly beat fighters who Taylor couldnt
