He also waited til Holyfield was past it and very beatable to face him. Basically Lewis didn't fight any of the really great fighters in his era when it mattered. He waited til Holyfield and Tyson got old and he didn't face Bowe at all.

Oh, and don't forget he got taken out early twice by ordinary palookas when he held the title. He's the only top level HW champ who has that dubious distinction.

Lewis is so overrated it's not funny. He's not even the best HW of his era - that's Holyfileld - let alone top ten all time.

    :good

Lewis took longer to beat the shell of Tyson than *tries not to laugh* Danny Williams and Kevin McBride!

Still, it goes down as his defining victory. What a ridiculous state of affairs.

So, Lennox used Jedi mind tricks to get Bowe to dump his belt in the bin and walk away from a signed contract to fight Lewis?

    Is that your argument?

That the WBC stripped Bowe - because Lewis wouldn't fight him?

Lewis beat and avenged everyone in front of him in the ring. BOWE THREW THE BELT IN THE BIN TOO MATE, PLUS STOPPED HIM BEFORE :smoke

Man Roy Jones's chin would have been exploited a long time ago had he fought Lewis

Lewis was the most solid and consistent heavyweight since Larry Holmes or Ali...Wlad however may reach that level should he actually have a decent opponent

Lewis is offered $12 million to fight Bowe WBA, IBF titles would be on line BOXING

    May 14, 1993|By Alan Goldstein | Alan Goldstein,Staff Writer
WASHINGTON -- The possibility of a Riddick Bowe-Lennox Lewis heavyweight showdown was rekindled yesterday when Bowe's manager, Rock Newman, offered Lewis $12 million for a championship match at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on Nov. 5.
..."I'm giving his guy [Lewis] $12 million, and they can divide it up any way they like. But he's not also going to dip into Bowe's pot at the same time. But if I were Lewis, I'd take this offer in a New York minute."

All of a sudden you Lewis fans like to pretend the Amateurs matter? Tillman beat Tyson in the Ams also! Does that matter? The Amateur's are nothing like an actual fight.

Lewis was offered 12 million to fight Bowe and he turned it down.
Bowe would rather face the other great fighter of the time named Holyfield rather to easily beat up Lewis who got KO'd by Tyson Sparring partner McCall.

Fact is, He beat everyone in front of him. To be the man, you have to beat the man and nobody took it from him, and if they did, he gets it back. More money made, more sellout ppvs and unlike most the americans you have pointed out, saved his money

    It's impossible to fight everybody.

Moorer was too busy losing to 42 year old men that couldn't beat Tommy Morrison or Axel Schultz.

But Moorer beat Holy so therefore he's brilliant right?

Or was that outside one of Holy's 3 primes?

Please. Lennox Lewis fans are nothing but apologists and excuse makers. Lewis never beat anyone good who was in their prime.

His best wins are old shot Holyfield, the corpse of Tyson and fat Tua.

That is called cherry-picking. He ducked Ruiz, Byrd and Vitali Klitschko and lost all of his titles outside the ring for refusing to face challengers.

More sellout ppvs? Just pointing out sir that Lewis-Tucker got lower ratings than Golf. Lewis was good but he wasn't the star attraction in America.
