Gilbert Melendez, " If every fight were to the death, Nick Diaz would be undefeated." I found this to be an interesting point of view by Gilbert. If only the title fights would go until someone was finished by sub or tko their would be no controversial title fights.

If the UFC allowed title fights to go until someone was finished my money would beon Nick Diaz 100%. Nick hasnt been finished by TKO since 2002, GSP last finished by strikes 2007.

Nicks not being finished rate in over 10 years in also astounding in the way he approaches fights. He trys to beat you at what you think you have an advantage at, Paul Daley was an opponent no one would stand with, Diaz did and TKO him. Condit won all of his previous 28 fights by either tko or submission with only 1 decision, yet when he fought Diaz he fought very conservative, point fighting to get the win.

I hope in the future changes are made to the scoring system, points fighting needs to stay where it belongs in karate. If you stall on the ground without advancing position, just doing enough to try and stay their, you should be penalized or fight stood back up immediately. One day people might look back at Nick Diaz talking about judging system and rules, he wasnt so crazy after all.

    My 2 cents. :think

I'd much prefer it if it was just a fight to the finish with no rounds or stoppages for cuts. That would be epic, and would suit Diaz. However, he'd still get KO'd every once in a while. I'm not sure his chin is as granite as some people make out. Yes its very good, certainly one of the top 10/20% in MMA (from what I've seen) but not unbreakable. Also there'd be hardly any money in it as broadcasters would stay away. They need time for replays, analysis, ad breaks and they have specific time slots they need to keep within. Additionally it would only appeal to certain people as the pace of those fights would generally be very slow.

But Melendez is correct in that UFC rules generally don't favour someone with Diaz's style.

Well PPV, theirs really no commercials. Also their should still be rounds but
in title fights only would it be a fight to the finish. If the title fight where on fox, theirs 1 minute window between rounds to get commercials in so I dont see that being an issue. Thanks for your input on the subject. :good

He would win any fights to the death yet won't be able to win a single round in a 5 round fight vs a lil French Canadian ...

    Makes heaps of sense.

Melendez has always been the Diaz brothers personal fluffer

He's been stopped before by gnp. I don't care how long ago it was. Again, he's been stopped before. If the ref hadn't stop that fight he would've been dead. Therefore Melendez is wrong. Nick would not be undefeated. Now if the rules were to change today, then there would be a pretty decent chance Nick could pull off such feat. But I don't think he can do it. And Melendez would not bet his life on it.
