You're talking **** again. Both men were champions at 135 as well. JMM also had a day to weigh in. Alexis did not. Yes, Alexis would be significantly taller but I imagine whatever 'prime' JMM shows up will be well matched for size against Arguello, in terms of holding his own strength wise anyway.
It's a fascinating contest. 2 great technicians with some different comparative strengths. Arguello is a man monster from 126-140, tall and a great jabbing outboxer while being a great uppercutter and bodypuncher inside, very very hard to fight. Marquez is faster with comparative skill, timing and defense. I could see either man winning, I wouldn't fancy betting either way if it was prime for prime tomorrow.
I know they both fought at 135, I made a mistake typing there. I hope this is clear enough for you to understand.... Arguello beats Marquez at any weight that both men fought at, 126, 130, 135 & 140.... and he does it by knockout, particularly at 130 were he was at his peak. You can talk about weigh ins all day long, Arguello was bigger & better & if both men are at their best then that will tell, Marquez doesn`t see the final bell IMO.
I understood your point first time. I'm not certain he stops Marquez myself. But if anyone's getting stopped, it is Marquez. The decision would not be particularly competitive though I imagine. 11-4 for Alexis or summat.
AA by a clear cut decision or Ref Stoppage. Not sure why some think this is intriguing... It's only intriguing but it's two all time great fighters.. not because the fight would be.
Arguello`s timing was amongst the best ever, he beats JMM comfortably on this skill (or attribute if you prefer.)
JMM versus my personal PFP latino favorite fighter of all time, "The Explosive Thin Man" Alexis Arguello. Great fight on paper as I like both of these fistic warriors. This fight brings in the same type intrigue anywhere from 126-140. And in a 15-rounder it won't dissapoint. My pick: Argeullo by decision. Obviously his track record in 15 round fights is the intangible in what eventually wins these type of hi-profiled dream fights for Arguello against the likes JMM, Azumah Nelson or an Edwin Rosario.
Yeah, I`d bet on a stoppage but a clear decision with a few KDs threw in for good measure in Arguello`s favour is not the strangest thing ever.
No, Marquez is amazing at what he does and stylistically is similar to Arguello. Marquez has speed, angles and maybe conditioning on Arguello, Arguello has height/reach defense and jab on Marquez You're a fan of the great Arguello, but Marquez is still underrated. Arguello could win by KO at any time imo but Marquez could outbox him with his quicker hands and even score a KO. Either way fight for me
It's not that I'm a fan of Arguello. He holds the advantages in the way this fight is pokey to play out. I care not for 'conditioning' when I've seen Arguello do a hard 15 rounds time, and time again, I'm sure he'll be fine in that respect. I will and have favoured Marquez against other greats. This matchup isn't one of them. I don't think Marquez being underrated is true anymore.
