I mean, I just watched it and it was almost as good as Bradley's I missed it last night cause I was watching the GSP fight, but I regret that decision, Boxing kicked MMA's ass last night Him and Bradley are in the same boat as 2 very skilled, very smart, and very tough fighters that are only held back by their lack of any significant physical talent After dropping a few rounds early, Vargas adapted to Lucky Boy by pressing him against the ropes and fighting him on the inside. He even hurt him, and he's not even much of a puncher Great performance... Great card by HBO
I'm a fan now. They were hyping lucky boy like he was gonna steam roll vargas and he showed a lot of heart. There were some brutal exchanges where lucky almost got K.O'd.
Enjoyed that fight a lot. Will be happy to see either man back in the ring. Seems like Vargas came to box but ended up having to brawl enough to get the room to box. Boy's got heart to go with his skill. Nice fight. Have seen him a couple (few?) times but I don't remember. This fight, I'll remember. Props to Lucky Boy as well. Good on HBO. Now maybe the underdogs in the perpetual battle w/Showtime? It'll be interesting to see if they can pull off the better matchups w/the lesser marquee names.
I didn't like him before the fight but now I do. He particularly impressed me by how he was really sitting down on his punches and landing some forceful blows. I simply didn't think he was capable of punching that hard. Credit to Omotoso who I was also impressed by. A lesser fighter would have their night ended early.
Vargas kinda reminds me of a slower handed, less athletic, but MUCH better chinned version of Khan with better pop than A Mere.
Vargas did a fantastic job. I have a lot of faith in this guy and have been saying he will prove himself. Tonight was the beginning for Vargas. This was a test for Vargas to not only win but show that he can be exciting. I see his confidence growing and his style becoming more crowd pleasing and eventually winning a world title. Hes just gotta keep winning the fans over so he can get Top Rank to put more faith in him..
I really liked what i saw from Vargas last night, and i have been one of his biggest critics. Props to him.
Went in with no rooting interest, half way through was rooting for Vargas. Pretty solid fight. Just overshadowed by the Bradley war.
