From what I saw and heard in the post-fight conference and interviews I got the impression from GSP that he isn't very excited for a fight with Johny. And for good reason. I think Hendricks has all the necessary tools to KO GSP. Anyone agree with this?
I don't think he should have many problems with Hendricks. He's better at everything. Hendricks obviously has a punchers chance, but that's it.
Hendricks did a much better job on Condit than I thought he would. How do you think the fight would go then? GSP just taking him down and controlling him I assume? If the fight stays on the feet I think GSP has very little chance of winning.
Usual GSP fare, yes. GSP could most likely outpoint him on the feet if he wanted to, though. Hendricks is a one handed brawler with solid wrestling. I think GSP is too intelligent and well rounded to lose to a guy like him.
Condit was coming home strong towards the end lastnight . I have no idea why co main events ain't 5 rounds .. My money would of been on condit going into the 4-5th . Gsp won't lose to Hendricks unless he gets caught with one o those haymakers . That's Hendricks ONLY hope .
atsch Totally forgot they only fought 3 rounds. That does change my opinion slightly. It does seem ******ed that they're not scheduled for 5. Maybe I'm overrating Hendricks (probably because I was underrating him before) but he seems to have very good wrestling. I was very surprised that Diaz was stopping a lot of take downs later in the fight. Diaz TDD is usually pretty poor from what I've seen. That's an area where Hendricks should be far stronger than Diaz. But did no one else get the impression that GSP doesn't like the fight with Hendricks?
Yes, I saw it the same way. I think Dana does too and that's why he put Condit in against Hendricks, hoping Condit could derail Hendricks and thus keep the UFC Goldenboy safe.
I think its gsp's biggest threat in a long time, gsp will not be able to out wrestle hendricks like he has done most of his other opponents and will have to engage in striking with hendricks at some point during the fight, i don;t think gsp has a good enough chin to survive the shots condit took.
Actually, Hendricks could have waited for his shot. He wasn't forced to fight. I heard that Hendricks said something along the lines of wanting to prove beyond any doubts that he is the top contender instead of just waiting around.
With the way Dana White controls the UFC, I suspect that is nonsense talk from Hendricks, and he was just saying that to explain why he was jumping through the hoops that Master Dana commanded that he do.
The truth is probably somewhere in between. I'm thinking Hendricks wanted to make some money while he was waiting on a title shot. He would most likely will have to wait until the end of the year for his title shot, and his last fight was in November of last year. I don't know that he can afford to go an entire year without fighting.
Because hendricks is a high level wrestler even if he can get the better of him to some extent he isn't going to be able to dominate him like he did diaz and at that point his weak chin becomes and issue with hendricks silly left hand power.
GSP has dealt with excellent wrestlers before, I'm sure he won't have too many issues with Hendricks. I also don't think GSP has a weak chin. Not to say Hendricks can't knock him out, but his chin isn't really weak.
