As a boxing fan I want to see evenly matched competitive fights where I cant easily predict the winner

    this qualifies as the above

zero cause for complaint and the first Canelo fight ill genuinely make an effort to see

Someone like Yudel Johnson would have been perfect for him instead of Mosley

Wasn't Rhodes a top 10 fighter? He wasn't all that good but I think he was a Top 10 and Legit 154. He even fought at 160. Some even thought he was going to school Canelo

Honestly they have done it the right way. Kid isnt a day over 23? Before last yr nobody really counted Canelo as a top fighter, but any rankings you check he is either 1 or 2 in the 154 pound division.

His last fight was the last time he was justified a pass, especially since he wanted Paul Williams or Kirkland, and Ortiz just got beat.

Now that he is counted as a top fighter, he has to fight other top fighters, which is exactly what he is doing with this Trout fight.

I do not know much about Trout, maybe you can explain why he is a big move up for Canelo.

That clearly means Golden Boy, which is obviously his promotion, are doing a great job.

Why would anyone require explanation? Canelo's biggest win to date is Mathew Hatton and Trout's biggest win to date is Miguel Cotto in a fight he was expected to lose. If that's not enough I don't know what is.

So let me get this straight, Cotto is Trouts biggest win? and you say Hatton ( Mathew ) is Canelos biggest win. Then who else have they fought? Cos Cotto is a has been and Hatton is a no one, so how the hell are these 2 fighters champions and causing a stir about the fight.
I tell you what I will go look at Boxrec about their records and see for myself why Trout is a big step up, cos like I said not heard anything of this guy before he beat Cotto.

He did try to fight Williams. That was a perfect step up. This will be a good fight no matter what, he will always be popular and i highly doubt he would get shut out by trout. Canelo has enough speed to touch him. Im very confident he beats Trout convincingly

it's not like trout is gonna putting a serious hurting on him, at worst he gets outoxed & loses a decision.

trout looked great against cotto however i though he looked very ordinary in the rodriguez fight. i recall watching the rodriguez fight & not thinking it was impressive at all. & other than those two fight he has just faced journeyman.

I would have put him in against K9, than Kirkland than Lara. This is no excuse for a Trout loss if it happens, I'm just saying that he should have fought guys like Kirkland and Williams before fighting the guy who can beat anyone else at 154 to me but Canelo. If Canelo wins I wonder would people complain if he fought Smith or Baysangurov

Mosley 8 fights at JMW, Citron his last 6 fights all around the JMW weight limit, Gomez has had many fights around the 154 limit too, Ryan Rhodes is a JMW. And if you look at previous fights you will see neither fighters were weighing 154lbs. You also forget that he fights more times a year than most.

    So looking at Trouts record:-

Not very impressive from 03/2009 to 06/2012

Like I said I had not heard much about him before the Cotto fight and I now know why. At a guess I would say Cotto picked him out because of the Zero and saw the competition he faced and thought it would be easy. But boxing is anything but, hence why Canelo should get a lot more respect than he does.

Interesting. Good stuff. The Canelo criticism is strange to me, considering he is only 22.
