Bradley ducking the 140lb division: Is it set in stone, or can he get back?

Tim Bradley was widely regarded as the best at 140, based on his overall skill level and the strength of his resume, which included a victory over Devon Alexander. Still, there was much work for him to do there before moving up...

Amir Khan was someone he openly avoided.

Lucas Matthysse was a fighter on the rise and had proven to be at least as good as Alexander.

Danny Garcia would have been an interesting scrap.

He would have likely beaten Maidana, but it would have still been worth watching.

Could have scuffled with Zab Judah and maybe collected a nice name for his resume.

Rios and Alvardo have emerged since his departure.

Tim went for that Pac dough and I can't blame him for that, but he shouldn't have gone all-in on this welterweight thing. He should have made it possible for himself to still get back down to the 140 landscape, where he's bound to step on one of the mines that he avoided as he tiptoed across the last time.

Is it still possible, or will everyone be left wondering what could have been?

Bradley's resume at 140 was the best of all the other fighters there at the time. Some of the other fighters mentioned might have benefited by having Bradley's name on their own resume, though.

He left a lot of good fights behind him is what I'm really saying.

 

It was a tongue-in-cheek reference to today's Broner thread.

Funny how Broner, who was at 130 not too long ago, is already being criticized for not doing the work that Bradley should have done, no?

He didn't skip Khan to fight Pac. He skipped Khan and was bailed out by Arum, who granted him a Pacquiao fight several months later. But it's all semantics.

I've not once argued that Tim wasn't the best there. My point is that he was the best, yet left a slew of fights at 140 against up and coming guys not much younger than himself.

He could have fought Pac and then gone back down. It would have been even better for his career, if he was as dominant as many seem to think that he was (though I was never sold). It may be too late at this point, however.
