They already do what's interesting I don't see many good matches for any of those guys except Donaire.
Totally agree. Terrible, terrible move. And watch and see how this trickles down to even the broadcast level. You likely won't even hear MENTION of boxers that are on the opposing network. It will be as if they don't exist.
Herschman is a pretty clever guy, so I'm hopeful he has formulated a plan to incorporate DiBella, Main Events and others to the extent that's possible. Also, HBO had better figure out a way to generate enthusiasm in European fighters and may have to take another look at the HW division. I don't like this move on the whole, but at least now the battle is out in the open.
On the whole its bad for Boxing but in a sense won't it offer an increased sense of competition now between networks, its basically Top Rank/HBO vs GBP/Showtime. Neither network will want to get shown up in the ratings so hopefully should be pushing the promoters they're working with to put on better fights.
It's indeed frightening to think that HBO could effectively become Arum's new platform for Latin Fury and Pinoy Power.
During the Vargas-Lucky boy fight Lampley said Vargas was part of a big card last year that was in Vegas, he said all that instead of just Mayweather-Ortiz card.
Bob will die soon and TR will be like look at all this money we left on the table, GB will work with TR
We need to build a outdoor stadium ,Yesterday I wasn't telling a lie today I'm telling the truth **** that guy he is a cancer to boxing.
I think Broner is the finishing blow actually. Mayweather is a twice a year PPV attraction who isn't even signed with Golden Boy. He would have no impact on the weekly non-PPV boxing programming. I think a bigger issue is that GBP wasn't going to offer a Broner fight with any of their 140 pound stars: Matthssee, Kahn, Garcia, Peterson, etc. They offered Malgnaggi at 147. Thats crap. Basically, GBP wasn't going to offer HBO a Broner fight with a figher Showtime wanted.
Broner won't leave haymon, all his team is signed up with haymon including raushee ****** and robert easter jr, he's known raushee since he was 8. Al haymon will not work with bob arum and top rank because the way in which they tried to screw him when he bought floyd out of his top rank contract. Now golden boy have good relationships with every boxing manager bar cameron dunkin, who really only works with top rank with 1 or 2 exceptions, them being james kirkland and a couple of very talented prospects. Golden boys next step will be to get boxing on cbs and once that is established showtime will takeover the game in regards to viewing figures. In the past they've shown the best fights from corrales castillo to marquez vasquez, now their about to become top dog in terms of viewing numbers. In regards to the top rank golden boy feud it doesn't really make much difference, fights won't getting made and really this doesn't change that. It will get intesting once a mandotary is enforced and we will then see how it all plays out. Golden boy allowed lara to fight vanes on a top rank card when top rank won the purse bid, will top rank allow the same thing for bradley when thurman comes knocking.
HBO deserves to lose Floyd and the future superstars in Canelo and Broner. The **** they pulled with Martinez & co. and the biased scores, stats and commentary made you wanna throw up. **** them. Showtime put together the Super Six, a great team (too bad Tarver got caught), and has mostly unbiased view. Fight Camp is not scripted and over the top but accurate and substantial, and the commentators aren't bitter old ****s, plus there is no Max on Sho. One network is as good as any as far as Floyd or GBP go, but one fighter is not as good as any other as HBO will find out.
