a perfect example of this would be meldrick taylor losing to JCC or jermain taylor losing to pavlik. What are some other good ones?

Miguel Cotto's career will always have a "what if" attached to it thanks to Antonio "Plaster Fists" Margarito.

He came into that fight pretty much shot, so if anything it was the Evander trilogy that did it.

But honestly I think what made Bower such an underachiever was that he had no work ethic, and absolutely refused to stay in shape. His trainers couldn't keep him from eating himself silly, he was only in proper shape for the first of the Holyfield fights. His terrible work ethic is what made his prime short lived more than anything else imo...

What a shame too, he had so many gifts. He had good power, a great chin, great size, was a terrific infighter for being such a big man... He had the gifts to be one of the best to ever lace them up.

He was 27-2 before JMM, he is 28-6 now, it's like the epitome of losing your prime in one fight. Katsidis has such an amazing heart and chin, but like Ali, it led to them taking horrible beatings. He really took a horrible beating that night, I can't remember anyone's career nose diving so suddenly after one fight, he has never looked the same.
