I think it was a bad move by GBP to make Showtime so buddy buddy at the expense of HBO. They have connections at Showtime... great. They should have split themselves so that they could develop on both networks, instead they did it in a way that now has them cut off to HBO. Mainly because HBO wants to be a bunch of lil bitches over it. The writing has been on the wall before Floyd signed with them..... GBP was catering to showtime and now they have lost the biggest network to their biggest rival. Not only that, but this just sucks for the fans :-( As if boxing needed any more problems with matches getting made, This GBP, TopRank, Showtime, HBO **** is such a **** fest and its one of the things that keeps boxing from ever going to the next level.
hbo not only work with tr but also works with di bella, shaw, k2, banner, sms, main events, goosen-tudor, ******. it's not like hbo will be buying everything tr sells, they have other options....it just not involves gbp fighters.
Golden Boy was already putting fighters on showtime for years, its only when the BIGGEST NAMES in the sport Like cotto, Mayweather & canelo leaves HBO, then its a problem. Fact is HBO;s boxing budget has dwindled lower and lower by the year, Showtime now has the big names to generate revenue to afford more fights. With current and future big names on showtime they will generate just as much boxing revenue and viewership as HBO. Also its not just Showtime, its Showtime CBS!:good HBO HAS CHAVEZ but hes an overrated drug user only hyped up because of his name. Pacquiao just got iced on their network and he will be retired in a year. Arum already stated he doesnt believe Donaire will ever big a huge draw or PPV star like Manny Pacquiao. Rios? Who is he going to fight when Golden Boy has most/all of the 140 & 147lbers. what other household AMERICAN star do they have?
